[Scene fades in from black, focused on nails on a hand being painted ‘princess’ pink.]
Geneia: [voice over] The dead do not speak. This is because the soul is said to leave the body once decease. The soul is everything; it grants us individuality, from the next mortal. It will one day lead you on to the great unknown, heaven, utopia, reincarnation…
[Fade to lips, having gloss painted on.]
Geneia: [Continued voice over] … I know better then that now, the dead do not speak for a much less mystic and beautiful reason. They can’t, the body can no longer function. The nerve, the organs, the muscles… they just don’t perform as they should.
[Fade to eyebrows, being drawn on.]
Geneia: [Continued voice over] The soul? It remains trapped deep inside, painfully aware of all that goes on around it, only to be freed when the body has decayed away. There are the lucky one’s that are cremated; other’s suffering through the cries and pleas of their loved ones, wishing for a way to console them.
[Fade to look a ‘doll’ Geneia’s eye, slowly moving outward till full body is seen. She is set on a small wooden chair dressed-up, and lifeless.]
Geneia: [Continued voice over] There are those who find themselves in ‘dirt beds’ left as food for the lowest of creatures, or they wither till they are noting but dust. All these options were apparently not for me, you see, I only had two people who cared for me, and only one knew I was dead, and he wasn’t about to lose me to death.
[Cut to Nadeem gathering his coat and keys]
Nadeem: [Turning to ‘doll’ Geneia] I’ll only be gone for a little while. [Walks over and kiss her forehead] Be a good girl. [He turns and walks towards door.]
Geneia: [Voice over] He swore he loved me, and with that love he stole my life.
[Nadeem leaves; door slams and screen cuts to black.]
Geneia: [Continued voice over] That’s okay, I like to think I sort of killed him too.
[Title fades on and opening credits roll.]
