Final Fantasyyyyy
Right now I'm playing Final Fantasy IV for DS. (JP version, I don't think it's out in English yet?)

I just got to the Mountain of Trials earlier today... (Mt Ordeals, that is) I think this is... the fifth version of this game I've played lol I've about got it memorized by now, and the dialogue is about the same as I remember even though I've never played it in Japanese before. 8D; (The previous four versions I played were the original FFII for SNES, FFIV SNES fan-translated ROM, FFIV PSX English version, and FFIV GBA English version. What can I say? It's my second favorite Final Fantasy and they just keep remaking it XD;;; ) The chibi characters take some getting used to, especially trying to think of Cecil as at all fearsome-looking in his Dark Knight getup when his head is about twice the size of his torso gonk but they did grow on me after a while. Having voiced cutscenes is pretty much THE AWESOMEST THING EVER. The only thing that makes me go crying is... Kain sounds like he's about 50 years old. crying crying crying PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, HAVE A YOUNGER ENGLISH VOICE. </obsessed fangirl>

Incidentally, Tellah calls Gilbert (Edward) 吟遊詩人 'ginyuu shijin', which just means a troubador or minstrel. So I guess it will forever be a mystery where the translator back in '91 or whatever got the phrase "spoony bard" from. LET US CHERISH IT FOREVER. 8D;

Edward was always my other favorite character besides Kain *is a dork, yes* so the other thing that makes me happy so far is that in the DS remake he's actually less useless. You can choose which particular song you want to use with his Sing command now and they all only take up one turn rather than him having to continually sing them (except Kaifuku no Uta/Recovery Song). And Medicine, instead of dividing up one Potion to give your characters minimal healing, will use up several Potions and heal everyone for the full amount. Not so great if you're trying to conserve items, but it's served me well in boss battles. Too bad I don't think you get all your old party members back at the end in the DS version like was possible in the GBA version sad I can't find my GBA cart so I'll never know whether I could've beaten Zeromus with Edward in the party </crazy talk>
