I originally meant to publish this on Friday, where my memories are fresh and clear in my head, but postponing it till today-on a Monday- doesn't hurt. My memory isn't too exact, but I can tell you enough so you can get the gist. Besides, I can spare you any unneccassary details.
Hell week, the final week when a play must come together and actors/actresses have to be on point with their acting, timing, transitions, and so forth. That week was indeed hell, for it was our only week to practice. We were at fault for not planning earlier, but we couldn't complain at this point. Just do what needs to be to be done.
A day before the play, I was walking upstairs to my next class when I overheard an underclassmen say to her friend in a rude and snobbish tone, "If this play isn't good, then..."
Just those words...how could they fill me with such malice? You don't know what it's like, underclassman! How dare you judge us even if it does suck?! I'd like to see you try to conjure up a perfect play in a week!
My anger grew from insecurity about the play. I didn't know what to expect that Friday and my fears boiled to rage aganist that one measly, unfinished sentence.
So, onto the point, was the play any good? Truth is, I'll have to see when I get back from Christmas break. My optimistic side would like to think it was good, backstage I heard the audience's laughter, clapping, and some girls peeked outside and saw many smiling. People said it was good, friends hugged me, teachers approved of the production, and yet there's always that one to be a buzz kill and say it wasn't well done at all. I suppose that's the reality, someone to rain on your parade. I only hope someone doesn't complain around me and my hypersensitive hearing, or else my mind will pile with terrible pessimism and anger once more.
Or maybe it won't.
I personally found the play to be well done and performed excellently, with a hilarious group of girls who dedicated their time to give the school an amazing production. I'm certainly glad to be apart of it, and that's all that matters to me. It doesn't matter what those snobby girls say, I know what I did, and I did a damn good job at it. Beat that.
The writers and producers are relaxed now, I'm sure. And everyone else is just as pleased with being out for school for the next two weeks. And we celebrated our jobs well done with a bag of Laffy taffys.
Who brought them? Why, who else would it be? cool
