In the beginning, she didn't know he existed. Which is understandable, considering that he's a ninja. He wasn't a stalker or anything- unlike certain other fictional boys *cough*EDWARD CULLEN*cough* twisted But he saw her around, enough to know her name, which was on his lips every night in his dreams. Her name was Autumn. He saw Autumn at school (what, you think ninjas all train in Japan?) every day, but was never brave enough to talk to her. She wasn't exactly popular, but she always had friends with her. One day, he saw her alone in the hallway, in front of her locker. He saw his chance, moving stealthily through the hallway, through the mob, towards the locker. Towards Autumn. Autumn swung open the locker door. She shook out her silky red hair, blinked her huge brown eyes. She searched her locker, dismayed to find that her math textbook was nowhere to be found. She sighed and gently shut the locker door, turning to face... ...our ninja friend. He looked into her deep chocolate eyes, amazed to be talking to be face-to-face to her. He scrambled to find something to say. Finally... "Hi, Autumn," said the boy in front of her. Autumn blinked. He didn't look familiar, in fact she couldn't recall ever in her life seeing the boy before her. "Hi," Autumn said. He's kind of...cute, she thought. He was tan, like he was from Hawaii, with clear gray eyes... ...which sparkled as he realized that Autumn was talking to him, to him, and no one else. "Do you take Algebra 1?" he asked, noticing that she didn't have a math book in her hands (ninjas notice these things). "Yeah, with Mr. Spicer," she replied, then added, "Why?" "I'm in the same class, and I noticed you don't have a book, do you want to borrow mine?" Autumn blinked. Here was this random, adorable kid, offering help to a girl he barely knew. "Thanks!" she exclaimed. "I'll meet you at lunch to give it back, ok?" she added. "It's a date," he grinned, and melted into the crowd. Autumn started. Did that really just happen? The only evidence that he'd been there was the math book in her arms. He darted into the math classroom, ready with an excuse to why he didn't have his math book... There's ninjas at your school, too. You just don't know it, because a true ninja never reveals that they're a ninja.
