The black kitten distantly heard her name being called, but knew it was too late as the car pulled away from the curb and sped down the street. She was dimly aware that the humans were talking about her, but she didn't think anything of it. After all, what did human affairs matter to her? The voices began to fade and soon the dim light subsided as she was drowned in memory...
Pale hands smoothed down a scarlet gown, running over the intricate threads that formed a pattern over her bodice. Heels clicked on marble as the girl turned, examining herself in the mirror before walking out the open door. Her feminine hands swayed by her small waist, adorned with a beautiful ring that held a glinting ruby in the centre, almost like a clam holding its pearl. Her right hand lifted to her deep black hair, running through the locks gently as they cascaded down her shoulders to her waist. Her eyes examined the scene of dancing before her, smiling at the small 5-year-old girl wth white-blonde hair dancing with the red-haired boy whom she had been engaged to at birth. "Good evening Charlotte." The girl simply said, before moving on and walking towards the four well-dressed friends talking in the corner; Nicholas, Elizabeth, Clarissa and Jack. She beamed at them, once again smoothing the skirt of her dress before she began to talk...
The inky kitten was dragged from her last memory of happiness when the car slowed to a stop. She let out a little mew of curiosity as she heard the door open and she was bounced again. "Hey, Eleanor." She heard a male say, presumably the teen. The bouncing continued, until they stopped momentarily and she heard the sound of keys in a lock. After being stuck in that prison for so long, she was accustomed to the sound, even beginning to block it out. She could hear doors closing behind her, but also the creak of one in front of her, confusing her again. The bouncing once again started but lasted only a few moments, until she heard plastic on marble. After a few minutes of her small heart pounding madly in her furry chest, the metal door was opened and the golden child peered in. "Hey, kitty." She simply said, allowing a piece of ham to come into view. "C'mon. We need to get you a bit plumper; you're so skinny I can see your bones." She said, managing to lure the black kitten out into the open. The charcoal kitten cautiously pulled the ham from the girl's fingers, smiling as the delicious meat slid down her throat. "Good girl." She dimly heard the girl say, but she was looking around the house.
