This entry is not a review. It's a complaint.
Here on Gaia, we are severely lacking in something. A certain hairstyle.
Pigtails.
Yes, there's the 'Rave' style, which has low-down pigtails. I don't like it.
Then, there's 'Mop' or whatever, which does have high-up pigtails, but has bangs that cover your face.
On Gaia, we are severely lacking in good pigtail styles. >_>
AND.
We also are missing curly hair. We have straight hair. Slightly wavy hair. Flipped-out hair. Dreadlocks. Cornrows. Even an afro. But no curls. What sort of justice is this?

Music Review: Dir en grey -- Withering to Death |
<b>Withering to Death</b> is <a href="http://www.direngrey.co.jp">Dir en grey</a>'s newest album, and their music keeps improving. This album has 14 tracks, featuring the singles <b>The Final</b> and <b>-saku-</b>, along with the song <b>Machiavellism</b> which was on the <b>-saku-</b> single. The album has everything you love in Dir en grey: Kyo's screaming vocals; Karou and Die's crazy guitar work; Toshiya's funky bass lines; and Shinya's mad drumming skill(z, yo).
The album starts off with the track <b>Merciless Cult</b>, which is synonomyous with the typical Deg song. Kyo's vocals, on this album as on every other, are amazing: he's screaming his throat raw one moment, and singing softly the next. The most amusing track, vocally-wise, is probably <b>Jesus Christ R'n'R</b>, in which Kyo attempts to say "Jesus Christ", but fails.
One can't argue; Dir en grey keep getting better and better.

Music Review: Gackt -- Love Letter |
Well, this album, Gackt's seventh, was released as a Valentine's Day present to his fans.
Pretty sucky V-day present, too.
There're ten tracks. One of them is a good, new song (track four: Arittake no Ai de); the other is an unplugged version of "dears". The rest is boring. Boring, and very Gackt-like. Annoying vocals, cheesy pop melodies, the works. It's everything you want in a Gackt album sans the fanservice! (Now here's where we need a new "Vanilla". Something to spice up this bland, boring jumble of sounds).
The songs are pretty repetitive; slow, (cheesy) pop ballads. They all (except track 4!) start out with some instrumental: piano or acoustic guitar intro, then go into Gackt's vocals, which are slow, ballad-y, and generally cheesy. Sometimes the chorus will have better, stronger vocals, sometimes not. Track 10, Love Letter, is the best example of this. It's probably the best song on the album, sans track 4 (again).
Now, track four, that's really the only mentionable song. It starts out with upbeat acoustic guitar and people clapping in rhythm in the background. The vocals aren't cringe-worthy- they're a lot like the SEVENTH NIGHT version of Mirror. In fact, the whole song is a lot like the S.N. version of Mirror. Which is probably one of three good songs Gackt has produced since going solo.
Please, Gackt. Do the world a favor and retire. That, or convince Mana to restart Malice Mizer, with you getting nowhere near the lyrics. God.

Music Review: L'Arc~en~Ciel -- SMILE |
After about nine months of fruitless searching for this album, I finally got my hands on a copy of L'Arc~en~Ciel's SMILE album. Wow.
Now, let me say this. L'Arc~en~Ciel is not my favorite JRock band, but I do love them nontheless. (My tastes go more towards, say, Malice Mizer and X Japan, and my new lust, POLYSICS. Strange, because I love English-language Laruku-type bands.) I came at this CD expecting lots of <b>READY STEADY GO</b>-esque songs. Not that far off the mark; the songs are a tiny bit repetitive, but it's definately some of the best Laruku I've heard. My favorite track is probably <b>Kuchizuke</b> ("Kiss" on the American release), with it's slightly embarrassing (if you're listening to it with parents) lines "And you're burning with desire, give in to me/And I feel it, you're desire, show me now".
Fun guitar riffs abound in this album, but did you expect anything less? As an uber-special fun bonus, you get a karaoke- or rather <b>hydeless version of READY STEADY GO</b>. (Perfect for anime convention karaoke contests!)
Hmm... In conclusion, everyone worship Tofu Records so the release more JRock in the US and I don't have to pay $30 for a CD or only buy them during Anime Boston! o_o

Music Review: Yoshiki -- Eternal Melody II |
Recently I had the pleasure of spending about 5 hours downloading <b>Yoshiki</b>'s album, <b>Eternal Melody II</b> through BitTorrent. (My computer hates it when I download things, and shows this by making the speeds ridiculously slow.)
There are 20-something tracks on the album (or on the version I downloaded; you should never really trust these things, y'know), 12 of which are 4-second-long silences. Uhh... no comment. The rest of the album, though... *gaspeth* so pretty.
I love piano music. And because I doubt that sunk in, let me repeat it: <b>I love piano music</b>. The album is almost solely piano music. There are classical versions of "Forever Love" and "Sieze the Light", among others. Yummeh *_* It's enough to make any fangirl drool.
In conclusion, I'm actually still listening to the album. I'm still on track 3 (Without You- classical version), and it's gone on for about 11 minutes and is still not done. So that satisfies my "pretty-piano-music" and my "really-long-song" lusts. In conclusion of the conclusion, everyone should go and BUY this album, to make up for this poor jobless highschool student's download of it.
It's pretty.

Haibane Renme... One of the prettiest anime shows I've seen in a long time. A synopsis!
A girl falls from the sky and wakes up in a coccoon inside Old Home. She finds out that she's a Haibane, a mysterious being with wings. The other Haibane name her Rakka, after the dream she had in her coccoon. Rakka gradually begins to adjust to life in Old Home, though she constantly wonders what the Haibane are. The series is pretty short: 13 episodes total. It's basically all about Rakka's time in the world with the other Haibane, Reki being the main one. It's very prettily drawn. A must-see for anyone who likes fantasy/drama shows.
