Many years ago, there was an island named Gandrex. It was a relatively small island on the outskirts of the main continent. When shipwrecked, a small fleet of goblins, including a powerful sorceror by the name of Grunjle, set foot on the forsaken island. They first discovered high levels of magical presence, as well as a high amount of crystals. In response to their discovery, they took the island of Gandrex for themselves, and have been living there since then.
Several years have past now, and the goblin population has grown into a vast society on Gandrex. As to this day, Grunjle is now the king of the goblins. However, his discovery led to his downfall. While playing around with one of the crystals, he discovered that he was able to channel arcane magic into the crystals to enchant them. Eager to show his people about the crystal, he tripped and the enchanted crystal fell into one of the statues the goblins made. Immediately, it began moving. Grunjle could not believe his eyes, and yet a great idea rose up in his head.
That same day, Grunjle chose to tell his people about the enchanted statue warrior, and asked his people for their help in building a statue army. Several months have passed, and Grunjle now stood as the goblin king with hundreds of stone statue warriors at his command. With such a powerful army, it wasn't long before Grunjle became corrupted with power.
He spoke out to his fellow goblins that he would use his statue army to destroy the human race and take the neighboring continent as their own. Many disagreed with Grunjle's plan, but remained silent for the sake of their lives. High Councilor Rilex also did not approve of such a notion. Rilex was in charge of keeping order among the civilization, as well as control the king's actions. While Grunjle was asleep, he had his assistant Bargle lock up the statues in a hidden chamber, meanwhile Rilex awoke Grunjle, armed with top-rank guards. Rilex banished Grunjle from Gandrex and therefore took control of the island. Forced to flee, Grunjle found himself swimming all the way across to the continent. There, he remained hidden in the bushes to avoid any unwanted attention. As he sits in the bushes, his mind races with anxiety and corruption, eager to bring revenge to those who betrayed him....to the goblins who threw him out....to Rilex, who stole his crown.
This is now where the adventure begins. The players find themselves walking along the beach of the continent, around where Grunjle is. Throughout the roleplay, there are a few missions that the players must complete before able to travel to the goblin stronghold. There are also story bonuses that can wield experience, which includes destroying creatures. In the end of the story, however, Grunjle is expected to retrieve his royal title. Once he is king again and he has the key to the statue chamber, he will unlock it and have all his statues sent out to kill the PCs.
