All my life I’ve known I wanted help with wildlife protection. I just wasn’t sure how. Wolves have a special place in my heart because they are beautiful and amazing creatures, not to mention misunderstood, but also because as a species they tell a story about how humans interact with wildlife, and it’s such a bad story, ending nearly in extinction. We’re kind of on that path again – obviously not to the degree that we treated them in in the past, but there’s no good reason to be hunting them now. They just came off the endangered species list this very year. There are other options if the state thinks there are too many wolves, one they could be trapped and relocated to places that need wolves like Yellowstone. They at one point killed off all the wolves there cause they thought it would be best but the deer and elk population grew too big. The reason why because that environment was now lacking is number one predator and they soon realized that and started trying to reintroduce wolves to the park. Though the wolves would end up passing the border in to canada and they arnt protected there so they sadly not all of them make it back. But there they arnt being hunted there....maybe minnesota should look at yellowstone as a example?? To keep wolves around and understand there importance in the ecosystem.
