hmm...
now, as some may want to know or want to learn from me, when it comes to the Gaian Marketplace... it has two different parts to it:
1.) yes, its only a game... but some people make it seem like its really there. i mean, there's no REAL place called Gaia full of people who look like anime characters. no, its all online... you're not talking to anyone else personally, unless you know them and interact with them outside of the site. but then, you have to consider that they don't look like anime characters, either. but when it comes to the Gaian Marketplace, the same psychological aspects of people apply, since this is a simulation of a town where people interact with each other as anime characters. because this is a simulation, nothing's real. however, the people controlling the characters ARE, so human psychology can be applied here. when i mean human psychology, i don't mean how groups of people act together as a whole... that's sociology for ya. what i mean is how each and every person on average would react to certain issues. THAT'S what i am observing, therefore its labeled under Psychology. now, when i say it takes a little psychology, i mean that it takes a little understanding of how the humans controlling the characters would react to instances to be successful in the marketplace. humans are naturally competitive at a certain level, and if you take a look at yourself and why you do certain things, then you, too will learn the ways of the human, and be able to manipulate them to your advantage.
say, for example, you had an ample amount of money, and saw in the marketplace that someone was selling an item you wanted at an outrageously high price. You DO have the money, so what would you do? either-- ONE, you suck up the excess pain in spending too much and buy immediately, or TWO, you bid on the item.
now, before i would choose any of the options, i personally would check the average price. then i would promptly start with choice #2. yes, of course i would save some G's by bidding on an item, but at the same time, i would be risking the possibility of someone else out-bidding a price i would offer. this, in turn contributes to me trying to get that item for the lowest price possible, and keep on bidding until i get it (or the price just gets too close to the buy price for me to care, therefore forcing me to buy it).
this is called competition.
now, there are other aspects of human psychology i want to point out, such as what something looks like at first glance, but i need to finish my explanations of how i run in the marketplace. the first part of what i wanted to talk about is probably the part that takes more explanation - human psychology. i haven't even explained all of the points i've noticed in this section of what i'm talking about, and i probably will talk about them later. now, for the second part ---
2.) Strategy. just one word can explain what i use almost continuously, yet it takes some explanation to use efficiently. strategy basically is the process your head goes through in utilizing logic and rationalizing the common options and effects you have to choose. that's strategy in a nutshell. this means -- you weigh the options of what could happen in your head, considering the chances of that happening. you weigh the options of what other people could do while you're trying to do something, considering the chances of what they would do. you weigh how those chances in comparison to your chances are, and act on them. now, you have to take into consideration how many other possible people are thinking about what they want to do, and how they stack up to you.
there's more to what i want to say, but now i realize that this is really long for a journal. so i cut it short for now and ellaborate on the other points within these two major parts to being successful in the Gaian Marketplace...
