Cleaning out my bookshelf, I found a book of old verses I had written when going through a tough, pseudo-relationship with a girl who didn't love me. It's strange to look back at that mad prose, that desperate poetry now. I swore then that my love for the girl would kill me...and it didn't. It did quite the opposite.

I enjoy this spiritual path I'm on. Even with the little amount of reading I've done about Zen and Buddhism and such, I feel like I'm significantly happier and more peaceful. Most of all, I've grown detatched from material possessions. There's largely no need for them. Really and truly. There is only maybe 1%, if that, of the stuff in my apartment that I really need. Think about it. Think about how much "stuff" you have. How much of it do you need, how much of it have you been programmed to think you need, and how much of it do you even want?

Toady was just one of those days that left me with good feelings inside. Nothing spectacularly amazing happened, only the beautiful miracles of an ordinary day. And that's more than enough to satisfy me. Well, I take that back, once I'm living with my beloved, THEN it'll be more than enough to satisfy me. As it is now, however, life's just fine.

Just had a delightful xmas morning with my Dad, stepmom and brother. I'm so very happy. heart We'll be on our way shortly to mom's condo, then I'll be pet-sitting...until work at 6am tomorrow. Have a bit of a headache and I'm a bit achy, but life is good. And it'll be even better when I can see my love and give her her special present. 4laugh

Today's been just dandy so far. I'm really just enjoying a good sense of "everything's alright" right now. I spent a lot of yesterday with the love of my life, decorating cookies, and that was just delightful. heart I'm glad such simple things make me happy.
