hello there,
sun and the moon.
Once upon a time there was a land of wolves where every wolf had a special mark on their foreheads. Each wolf would have a soulmate - a wolf who's mark would fit together with theirs, like a raindrop and a cloud.
There was a beautiful white wolf who would wander the forests, hoping to meet her soulmate. She had always wondered what her mark was so that she could find her true love easier. After many nights of searching, she broke down into sorrowful tears thinking, "Oh I bet my mark is an ugly brown smudge, or maybe I don't even have a mark at all!"
She, after hours of pitying herself, fell asleep underneath a large tree. She dreamed that night of a white cresent moon in the dark night sky.
In the morning she awoke to the sight of a large black wolf standing across the clearing. Upon his forehead was a pure white cresent moon. "Oh!" she exclaimed.
"Is there a problem?" the black wolf asked. His forehead and his beautiful mark was wrinkled in concern. The white wolf immediately explained that she was okay and that he just surprised her.
The two soon became fast friends. They would walk through the forests together at night and would talk about everything, from the sky to the animals of the forest. Without even realizing, the white wolf fell in love with the black wolf. She never told the black wolf how she felt, though, in case he didn't love her the way she did. And maybe they weren't even soulmates.
The white wolf was staring up at the twinkling stars one night when the black wolf came up to her. He saw tears dripping onto the earth underneath her. "Are you okay?" he asked.
"No," she responded truthfully.
"What's wrong, then?" He sat down beside her and rested his tail on top of hers.
"I'm ugly, I just know it," she sniffled. "Otherwise I would've found my soulmate by now."
The black wolf hesitated. "Come take a walk with me," he said, standing up. They walked in silence for about an hour until they came upon a stream. "I know my heart's in good paws," he said as she looked up in confusion. "Go look in the stream," he told her, nosing her forehead. She looked down, and with the light of the shining moon in the night sky, she saw upon her forehead, the sun.
