If I were to take
off this mask
would the day just pass
or would it slowly slide
away
like rancid puss oozing
from my decay
or would it go down
really cool
like if for once I wasn't beat on in school
could I just hide it away?
show the world what I am
just for one day
my fleeting hopes and desperate desires
shielded by my mask
from the red hot fires
of this hell from which there is
no escape
would live if just for that
'one day'
but still the risk is far too great
what is I made a dire mistake
and my dreams like glass
got crushed to sand by the blind wrath of their calloused hand.
