I'm finally home from the Southbound Festival! OMG it was so awsome! It's the Western Australian equivelent to the Woodstock Festivals.
Anyways arrived down at the place just outside of Bussleton about 3hrs drive south of Perth, though taking about 5hrs due to picking up 2 of my mates along the way and traffic. Finally got parking and staggered to our campsite at least 1/2 a km away under the weight of all our junk, next year will just bring a swag and small bag of clothes and buy food there I think....
Once camp was set up wandered over to the campers entertainment area just in time to buy a nice cold TEDs (Tooheys Extra Dry - beer) and get to the front of the crowd to catch Blue King Brown (BKB) about to start. Danced the whole time, along with donning down another TEDs or 2.
The rest of the night proceded with alot of drinking and dancing to awsome music, watching one of the bands documentories about the war in Iraq, along with chatting with random other concert goers until I finally passed out in my tant sometime after 2am.
The next morning I head down to the beach around 8 or 9 or something of the sort on my own, as I had tried to drag Chris and Tev out but they were way too lazy to even leave the tent. I came back to camp around 11am to drop off my stuff, have a shower (which meant me using one of my shirts as a flannel to try and wash with as the water had all but ran out and there was only a small trickle of boiling hot water left. After that went to catch the 1st bands of the day. Once again the boys still being in bed, they eventually head out around 1pm-ish.
The bands were playing on 3 stages over the course of 11am till midnight that night. On this day the unlucky people who missed out on purchasing camping tickets were allowed in to join the festivities.
I managed to get to most of the bands for at least a couple of their songs, along with buying a BKB cd and got it signed by all the band members, along with my hat signed by Natalie, the main singer, and John Butler, their bass player and managed along with the main singer guitar player for his own band, John Butler Trio.
There were a fair few stalls of different sorts, many being about Greenpeace and a few other environmental groups.
Overall the festival was totally awsome and I can't wait for next years, though I'm glad I have a full year to recover from my many aches and pains due to too much dancing, drunken stumbelling, people pushing in the mosh pits and flying bottles colliding with my shoulder... In the mean time I have the Big Day Out to look forward to next month, though luckily that's just a day concert, however much bigger.
