The young girl was thrown into a dark cage. She heard sinister laughter. Trying to turn around to see what who it was, she cried out in pain as she felt something cold and hard pressed into her neck and wrist followed by heat so intense she screamed out. "Serves you right wench I don’t know way my master wanted you your nothing but a horde ugly human stop crying like that you get to live don’t you... for now anyway" and with that he slammed to metal bars of the cage laughing cruel as he left her in complete darkness.
Meanwhile not too far away, a man was pacing back and forth waiting for his servant to return. Going over the events of the slave action, he couldn’t believe he’d stooped this far just to get some one to feed off of. There had been a time when young girls flocked to him, not only to be feed upon but also to be deflowered by him. He grinned sadistically in the darkness, his blood red eyes glowed at the mere thought. He’d had it all; women, power, wealth, immortality! That is until it had all been snatched away from him. How could he have let this happen?
Ten days ago…
"Hey sis where you going?" A girl turned her waist length light pink hair swirled around, her pale violet eyes sparkled "Oh no where just down to the river to take a swim" The boy jumped up and down excitedly, "I want to come too" he begged. "No Cody, you can't I'm going to meet someone." "I bet your going to meet Chris, aren't you?" Her younger brother taunted. She blushed deeply. "It's none of your business....but yes I am and you can't tell ma and pa ok?" He grinned at her "What will you give me to keep me quiet?" She thought for a moment, "how 'bout I get you that new gun you've been wanting? The one with the silver handle." Cody nodded then walked away calling over his shoulder, "don't worry I'll cover for you." She sighed shaking her head. That gun would cost her all the gold she had, but it would be worth it to get to see Chris without any one around. Quickly she ran down to the lake to wait for him.
A few hours later Chris still hadn't showed up "I wonder where he went..." She finally decided to head home and yell at Chris the next time she saw him. As she neared her small home town she could smell smoke and saw a large black cloud rising above it. "No" she ran as fast as she could. When she reached the edge of town she stopped, unable to believe what she saw. Almost every building was on fire or burned to the ground. The smell of burning wood and human flesh was enough to make a person sick. She could hear the screams of friends and loved ones still trapped inside. Then she saw them - Slave traders! They rode on black horses and were dressed in furs and armor. They where terrifying and had many of her friends chained up behind their horses. She stood frozen to the ground to terrified to run, but her feet felt like giant boulders. As one of the slave traders turned around he saw her, and started come toward her, she finally managed to regain control of her legs. She turned and ran as fast as she could, tripping and falling in her fright. She fell over something, landing flat on her face. When she managed to scramble up and see what it was, there was Chris or part of him any way. She screamed in terror, jumping back and swaying slightly, her vision blurred. She felt like she was going to be sick. Suddenly, before she could stop what was happening, she felt herself being lifted up and from somewhere far off some one was saying how odd her hair color was and that it might be hard to get a good deal because of it. Then she blacked out.
A man sat alone in a large, gothic-styled room, gorgeously decorated with a hard wood floor, lavish fur rugs and rich antique furnishings. There were paintings and tapestries hanging on the walls and a large stone fire place. The long, narrow windows where covered in thick velvet fabric which forbade any sunlight from entering. “What shall I do?” he wondered aloud. “I need a human to feed off of, but where am I going to get one…damn these cursed chains!” He slammed his fist down on the side table, smashing it to bits, a small imp like creature scurried in cleaning the mess up quickly scurrying back out “Ulrich get in here now!” A tall beefy man, with snake-like eyes and a permanent frown that seemed etched into his features, stalked in and asked in a gravelly voice “yes master?” “I want a human, a mortal, someone I can use, find me one!” Ulrich bowed “yes master right away.” He then turned and left, leaving the man alone with his troubled thoughts once more.
The girl woke up groaning in pain. Her entire body was sore. Slowly she opened her eyes, blinking. There was darkness all around her. After waiting a moment for her eye sight to adjust she scanned her surroundings. She was in a small enclosure that was filled with other ragged and worn people. She tried to move but found her hands and feet chained to the floor. “W...what’s happening?” A woman in her mid thirties with a haggard face spoke. “We’re waiting to be sold that’s what” she snapped roughly. Then, seeing the how hurt the girl was she softened her voice. “Your new here, aint you? What’s your name?” The young girl looked at her for a moment as she decided whether or not to trust this new woman. “Primrose. My name is Primrose, but you can call me Rose.” The women shook her hand which was a difficult feat because of the chains. “Nice to meet you Rose, though I wish I didn’t have to be the one to explain what was happening here. “You see we’re slaves and this is a slave house” “What!?” rose cried. She began to sob as the memories of what had happened came back to her in one great wave of pain and sorrow. The woman pressed her hand on Rose’s shoulder to comfort her as best she could. “I’m sorry. I truly am, but there’s nothing we can do” she sighed.
Ulrich stood in front of the large slave house shaking his head in disgust. Why on earth did his master want a human from a place like this? True, he needed them to feed off of, but he could still just go out hunting like before. Why was it neccessary to bring one of these weak, smelly creatures into the household? With a shrug he decided it would be best to not question his master’s orders and so sighing heavily he walked in. Inside the large, dank building was a spacious room with chairs in rows on either side of it and a large wooden platform at the front. He made his way past the other customers walking up to the front of the room and taking his seat waiting for the auction to begin.
