It sucks to high heaven, and it's time-consuming as hell. This site has gone downhill considerable since I first joined in 2005. There are pictures of emo kids everywhere. Oh well, at least my friend seawolfmoon is still awesome. That much hasn't changed, thankfully wink .

The Real Deal #2 - February 9th, 2007 |

Hi, folks. It's time for the second installment of The Real Deal. Here we go...
To whoever sent me the Gaia Artwork No. 2: This gift was not at all well received, and you should have given me a katana instead. I'm selling your useless gift, since it is of value to me. You want to impress me? Give me a katana or some gold instead, not some dumb painting worth a pathetic 300g. Sheesh. It's called a Wants List for a reason, folks. Learn to read it. I'm putting this painting up for sale for exactly 300g, and we'll see if anyone buys it. Also, learn how to give gifts properly, and don't go the way of my uncle, who gave me a Scrabble board game for my 18th birthday. Give gifts based on what people's interests are, and don't just buy stuff randomly because it's cheap. If you do this, I guarantee that the person you're giving the gift to won't appreciate it at all, it may even damage your relationship with that person. That Scrabble game cost $15 or less, and it showed that my uncle is too cheap to buy an actual present that I could have enjoyed. Same applies to the person who gave me the stupid painting. Please don't take any offense to this statement; rather, take it as some good advice that may come in handy the next time that you have to buy a friend or relative a birthday or Christmas present. And that's my $1.98 for the day. If you're the mystery person who sent me this gift, and you're reading this, please understand that I don't dislike you at all. I just didn't like your El Cheapo gift, that's all. Ahhh, I feel much better now. Letting your rage out makes everything feel so much better. Until next time, I'm Mats Taisho, and that's The Real Deal.
Follow-Up: Someone purchased said painting for 300g after I put it up for sale. I guess some stories reall do have happy endings after all. Thanks for the 300g, tristan the ninja biggrin !

Welcome to The Real Deal, my new column here at Gaia Online. I will be using this column to talk about about whatever is on my mind, in addition to providing insight and personal opinions about current events. Here we go...
According to yahoo.com, FOX is cancelling The OC! Halle-freakin'-lujah! Rejoice, my friends! Apparently, the show was in a ratings freefall ever since the 2005-05 season, and this was probably due to the fact that many of the actors left the show (who wouldn't?). I'm quite sure that there are billions of 16-year-old girls across North America criying their eyes out as I am typing this. My take on this whole thing? Good riddance. TV loses another forgettable piece of trash that was cheesier that the pizza that I've been eating for lunch for 7 straight years. The OC was one of the most overly dramatic, idiotic, pointless shows I'd ever seen, and it was basically designed to brainwash the fragile minds of young people across North America. And now, after 4 years on the air, it's finally gone! Thank God! Kudos to FOX for making this fantastic decision. The last episode will air on February 22nd. Perhaps FOX will replace this train wreck of a show with new episodes of The Rich List, a nice-looking high-stakes game show that was pulled after only one broadcast. At this point in time, anything is better than The Old Crap. My heart goes out to FOX's programming department for making one of their best decisions ever.
In other news, my favorite game show in the whole wide world, NBC's mega-hit Deal or No Deal is introducing a new feature this Sunday. Taking a cue from the Australian version of the game, which has been airing since 2003, the US version is adding a Double or Nothing feature. Here's how it works: Once the contestant has accpeted an offer, two giant gases are grought out. One has 'Double' inside; the other has 'Nothing.' The contestant can gamble any or all of their winnings in hopes of possibly increasing them. For example, let's say that a playes has won $200,000. If they gamble $50,000 of that and open the 'Double' case, that amount is doubled, and their winnings are upped to $300,000. If they open the 'Nothing' case, then they lose the amount of their bet, thus leaving with $150,000. I think that this will be a great addition to an already great game. Kudos to the folks at Endemol for bringing this interesting feature to the US version from overseas. Oh, and Sunday's show will be a special Grease edition, where one of the contestants will be playing for $2 million.
Well, that's all for now. Until next time, I'm Mats Taisho, and that's The Real Deal.

Deal or No Deal: Gaia Edition - Episode 2 Recap |

Hi, folks. Sorry I haven't posted a new entry in a while. Anyway, let's get down to business here. A while back, we palyed our second game of DoND: GE, and here's what happened. New contestant Kahlia OShaydex began her quest for $1,000,000, and took out several large amounts before receiving a third offer of $19,000 with $300,000, $400,000, and the million still in play. We never heard back from her, and thus the game remained unfinished for a while. Several days later, Kahlia sent me a message stating that she could not continue playing her game due to unforseen circumstances. Therefore, I made the executive decision to award her the money that was in her case, No. 16. Inside the case: $400,000, which makes her the highest money winner to date on DoND: GE. Congrtualtions, Kahlia. Spend it wisely.
While this big win was indeed fantastic, in recent weeks, I have had trouble finding new contestants. Kahlia even signed on to be the model for Case 16, and also decided to help me find contestants. Together, we did not manage to spark anyone's interest in playing the game, and just today, Kahlia stepped down as both model and contestant searcher. Therefore, I have made the decision to halt production of future episodes of DoND: GE due to lack of PR and interest. We had a good idea going for a while, but unfortunately, it didn't last that long. I would love to try and give away another million dollars, but I don't think it's going to be happening again for a while. I had a great time serving as host while it lasted, and we gave away a total of $582,000 in just 2 games. Thank you to all of those who participated. Your particpation was greatly appreciated.
Perhaps DoND: GE will return some day, but not for now. It was great while it lasted, but we just couldn't make ends meet. And so, after only 2 episodes, DoND: GE has been put on an extended hiatus. But life goes on. Perhaps there will be other opportunnities for me to play some fun games with you guys in the future, and I will be sure to keep you posted if there are. Until then, this is Mats Taisho saying goodbye from Deal or No Deal: Gaia Edition, and thanks for watching.

Hello to whomever is reading this. I figured that if I'm going to be here for a while, I may was well start a journal. Go ahead and read it, if you wish.
Today, I began my career as a game show host. My show is Deal or No Deal. Think of me as Howie Mandel with white hair and dog ears. All that's missing is a dark suit. Anyway, in the premiere episode, contestant [Solidus Snake] played the game well and took a deal worth $182,000. Inside his case (No. 11): only $50. I guess you could call that an OPW, or an Outright Player Win, since the object of the game is to beat the Banker (and win the million dollars). I wonder how our next contestant will do. Until next time, this is Mats Taisho reminding you to help control the pet population; have your pet spayed or neutered. Bye for now.
