I've very little to do today so I've just written a letter to uncle and I though I'd have another attempt at my neglected journal. It's only recently occured to me that the teachers here still insist on readnig my letters, it sometimes makes me wonder if they have something to hide.
Speaking of which; I've heard a few funny stories regarding the girl I found the other day; apparently she's left the school, too tramatised by the 'incident' to continue attending. No-one seems to know what really happened, I've heard some very silly stories involving vampires, pixies and all sorts of other flights of fancy. It would be nice to know what really happened that day, nearly a month ago I think.
I should start putting dates on these entries, it would make time a little more solid for me.
I've been regularly visiting the area where the poor lass was hurt and I can't make anything out for sure; the gardiners take their job very seriously and any disruption to the overall impression of the school is dealt with quickly. I've also been ahving a look around the area that it happened, trying to work out a way for an attacker (if any) to escape without me have seeing them. It seems almost impossible unless they ran into the forest. Sure no-one is stupid enough to run into the forest?

I had no lessons at all today, so I went to the library and got out a book, a vampire Novel, actually, by Anne Rice. I took up my usual place by the lake under a rather large oak tree and was reading when I heard scuffeing for lack of a better word, just behind the rose garden. I stood up and went to investigate but by the time I'd got there the attacker was gone leaving a young girl lying face down in the mud, her floor-length skrit gathered around her knees and her legs, and what I could see of her arms where covered in mud and blood. I knelt down beside her and lifted her long (muddy) blonde hair out of her face, I checked her pulse (fine) and listened for breathing (also fine). I asked her if she was alright, if she could tell me her name but no reply was forthcoming. I heard someone coming up the path on the otherside of the rosebushes and called to them for help. It was my one-time Maths tutor, Master Alcard who, in turn fetched the nurse. The poor child was whisked away to the medical wing and I've heard nothing of it. I tried to ask Mater Arcard but he said I'd have to ask the nurse who doesn't seem to think it's any of my business.

I'm Marcus Einstar. My friends call me Dark Marcus. When I was young, my mother died, Father left us when he found Mother was pregnant. Mother's rich uncle sent me to live and learn at a boarding school, he didn't want anything to do with my upbringing until I was old enough to "understand the world". Or at least that's what the infrequent letters tell me. I live there still and share a room with three other boys; Ernest Jones, Matthew Ward and Terrance Edwards. Erny, Matt and Terry are quite young, not like me, I'm 17 now, they're only 8. The others that are my age left when they were 16 to go to some college or other, uncle thinks this place is best for me to learn how to "handle myself". Recently, things have started to happen to the students, things that may have been happening all along but I've only started to notice. Nothing like this happeend to anyone I've known before but I no longer have to attend classes with the other children (boys and girls) and I'm allowed to have more free time. This time I ususally spend on the school grounds, in the gardens or by the many lakes and ponds. I think uncle knows what's going on but then why would he allow me to remain. In his latest letter, uncle has asked me to keep a diary of my thoughts and impressions of the place in which I live. He also requested that the teachers don't find it or read it and that I should be completely honest yet "make no unfounded accusations" I think I can do that.
Lights out in a moment, I'll write again tomorrow Dark Marcus
