The small fine hairs on Jack's neck stood o end as his whole body stiffened up.

"They're coming..." Jack muttered silently to himself. These were the only words that he was able to get from his mouth. He looked towards the horizine, nothing yet but he could hear them coming. He stood up from his place and jumped down into the trenches, racing frantically around, yelling around to all the nearby sleepers. "Up! Up! Up! The Germans!!" Soon after he had gone running through the maze of trenches, he began to hear footsteps. Loud and echoing footsteps coming from all around him. All languages of cursing could be heared,

"Why the hell are they getting us up?" One said, and then turned to another who spoke almost the same words. Along the lines of the trenches soon appeared many differnt people, all muttering and shooting glares at him. As the general walked down the lines of the men, as if this were only an inspection, until he finally reached Jack. His eyes set on Jack's, that trademark piercing glare of his.

"Alright people, there must be a good reason for this rude awakening, isn't that right Cpl Randall?" The general said to Jack with a tiny smirk.
"Yes sir!" Jack answered back as if only another faceless soilder.
"And what was that good reason?"
Jack looked to the east, right to the rising sun. And there they were...Their heads breaking over the new sun. Their silloettes the only thing to be seen. Jack could not speak anymore, his eyes trained on that area, unable to move.
"Cpl Randall!" The general yelled at him before looking to the east himself, and seeing what Jack was looking at, he too stared slack jawed. "Good GOD..." As if on cue, all the soliders looked over the trench wall, and saw the Germans.

And the last one to speak was Jack, he seemed oddly confident, as if not really scared.
"We're ready for them" He said, turing towards the general. "Sir, shall we prepare for battle?" He asked. The general was still looking to the east, as if not even hearing Jack's words.

"Yes" Was all he could manage to get out of his mouth.
