Was writing this in parts on a word doc for a while and forgot to actually post it. sweatdrop
---------------------------------
Alright, update the second.
I decided to hatch my next egg after beating the second gym, because I couldn't wait.
Out came Trapinch.
Interesting. This is the one Pokemon that I might consider switching out for that 7th egg. I love Flygon, but I have raised so many of them already, and recently too. Not really sure why I bred one. sweatdrop I think I was worried I didn't have enough possible ground types. And that is true, being a ground type, he could be quite a useful addition to the team. I'd just rather be trying somebody different... but ah well, we'll see.
Anyhow, she is lonely nature and named Snappit. Not actually my choice of name, but I let somebody else name her for me this time.
Went through Pinwheel forest leveling her up and caught her up to the others pretty quickly. I love the new leveling system in this game.
I made it to Castelia city, and the gym here is where I started to have a bit of trouble. I don't have many Pokemon to counter bug types. Roggenrola is good, but unfortunately grass/bug types just kill her. My only other super effective move was my Solosis' hidden power.
So I decided to hatch my last egg to see if that would help me at all. XD
It's... Dwebble!
A gentle-natured female, I name her Conchi.
A bug/rock to complete my group. First repeat type, but at least she's got a secondary type. And after leveling her up a bit, sure enough she came in quite useful and helped me win the gym badge on my second try. Hooray!
Now that I know my full team, I decided to head back to pinwheel forest and evolve Mika into a Leafeon. I still had nothing to counter water types, so that seemed like the best choice, plus I believe it's the first one I could evolve him into.
Forgot to mention, Neptune evolved before the gym as well, into a Dewott. How cute!
I made it to Nimbassa, and I'm about to challenge the gym there. That's where I leave it for today.
My team currently looks like this:
Snappit(lv20):bite/sandstorm/sand-attack/faint-attack Conchi(lv21): faint attack/bug bite/rock blast/smack down Mika(lv20): grass knot/tackle/sand attack/yawn Era(lv22): rock smash/rock blast/mud-slap/headbutt Neptune(lv22): razor shell/ice beam/surf/dig Alius(lv23): psywave/reflect/light screen/hidden power (fire)
--------------- Day 3 ---------------
Okay. I went too long without writing anything. Let's see if I can remember what happened...
At some point, Era evolved into Boldore.
I tried battling some of the trainers in the gym and found them a little difficult, so I went outside to train a bit. Eventually I went back in the gym and made it to Elesa, the leader.
That was an interesting fight. I started off with either Conchi or Era, I can't remember, to try and wear down the Emolga. Of course, with volt switch out came Zebstrika instead. So I switched to my only ground type, Snappit...
Who of course doesn't have any actual ground moves. So I wore down Zebstrika the slow way, using sandstorm and sand attack, repeatedly healing with potions, and biting now and then. Finally it was taken down, and the Emolga were easily taken care of with my rock types.
So far she's the first gym leader I beat on the first try. Kinda sad. ^^;
So after heading to the next city, at some point I decided to hatch egg #7, just to see if it could be a possible replacement for Snappit (though admittedly, I've already been growing kind of attached to her!)
It hatched into... Torchic!
Well, a fire type would be quite useful, but this was an easy decision - no thanks, sticking with my Trapinch.
I just am not a fan of Torchic's evolutions, never have been. But for some reason I decide to include all the starters in the mix. XD Of course it had to be my least favourite to hatch... ah well.
It was a female Torchic though, so semi-rare. I'll keep her around, but gonna stick with my original 6 for this challenge.
I will admit my team does have a bit of a challenge dealing with grass and bug types. Conchi learned bug bite which is helpful, and I also have Alius' HP Fire... but otherwise not much to counter them. Oh, and Neptune has Ice Beam, but if it's a grass type that outspeeds him he's kinda screwed.
Still, I got pretty lucky overall. I could have easily ended up with a team of 3 water types and 3 flying types or something really challenging like that.
So far, things are working out pretty well. :3
Oh yeah. I went and beat team Plasma in that cold storage thing. That was pretty easy. I love that Conchi can take down dark types! On my typical run-throughs I don't usually use Pokemon good against dark (I rarely if ever use fighting or bug types), so it's nice to be able to counter them for a change.
That's about it. On to challenge Clay. Iirc, he uses a ground/steel type... not sure how the hell I'm going to beat that yet. I don't think I have any super effective moves against it, except HP fire which isn't that good...
----------------- Day 4 -----------------
I went a bit too long without updating. It might be difficult to remember everything that happened. sweatdrop
Well first of all, I do remember that Clay was WAY easier than I anticipated. I forgot about Excadrill's weakness to water. Duh. So I just plowed through with Neptune's surf.
And then a whole bunch of stuff happened. I'll just recap in point form the biggest things (not necessarily in order, but I'll try)...
-collected the next 3 badges, now I'm about to challenge the 8th gym -Alius evolved into a Duosion, and later into a Reuniclus. So cute and so powerful! -Neptune evolved into Samurott -Conchi evolved into Crustle -Snappit evolved into Vibrava -Mika is unfortunately very uselss. sad
Yes, Mika is the weak spot on the team right now. Every time he gains a level, I eagerly await for him to learn a new, physical attacking grass move. He never does. Sooo I finally got impatient and looked up online when he'll learn one.
Next one is Leaf Blade at level 71.
Level 71. gonk Wtf! I'll be done my challenge long before he hits 71. So sad. I checked to see if there's a TM he could learn, but nothing there either. So he's forced to use only special attacking grass moves, and with a crappy specialattack stat... he's not doing much damage to anything. His best move right now is probably the Retaliate TM I taught him.
I probably should have done more research before deciding to evolve him into Leafeon.
Oh well, part of the challenge I suppose.
Okay, that's all for now. I'm gonna try and get the last badge, and beat the elite 4 before I make my final update. Let's hope this team pulls me through. smile
Too lazy to write down their moves/levels right now. Just know that they're all currently at around 42-43.
