Read, learn, enjoy...
A knock sounded at her door. "Hey, Kit! Are you there?" The door slid open with a whispering whoosh. Standing at the door was a boy of Kitsune's age. He wore his brown hair long, loose, and wavy. His grin, much like his stance was relaxed and carefree. Despite the technological city, he chose to wear more, traditional style clothing. He wore a green yukata and brown pants, covered by a forest green cloak. Hanging on his back was his rice farmer's hat, handed down to him by his grandpa. "So, little lady. Do you know what day is today?"

Kitsune fixed him with a stare that could melt stone, her green eyes icy. "What do you want, Kai?"

Kai seemed unaffected, he grinned wider, "Today, you turn 16. You know what that means."

For a moment, Kitsune deflated, but soon recovered and returned to her haughty composure. "At midnight tonight, my training is complete and I go to look for the suit."

Kai was now examining the dent in the wall. He whistled, "Nice work. I see all that training has come in handy."

Kitsune snorted, "They only train me so I can survive the journey. After I return with the suit on, they'll all withdrawl faster than a bucket of salt kills a snail."

Just then a rumble went through the room. Kit's cheeks turned pink, as she put a hand over her stomache. "I guess we'd better get some breakfast." sweatdrop

Down at the breakfast table, the cooks provided a lavish breakfast. Pancakes that overflowed with maple syrup, sausages as long and fat as one's arm, bacon that still sizzled with juices, even Kitsune's oatmeal looked more lavish than usual. She downed the first bowl and devoured two whole sausages before she was satisfied. She drank a glass of milk, and one of orange juice before watching her friend eat. The cooks loved Kai. He could eat and eat and eat. When he was done he'd devoured 12 stacks of pancakes, 8 sausages, 23 strips of bacon and a gallon of milk.

"Are you done yet?" Kitsune asked impatiently. Kai nodded. They both set off for training, none of them wanting to talk about what would happen midnight tonight.

In the woods of Elerwyn, the young girl Kitsune Kunai read. The shady trees of the forest provided much shade, but allowed enough light to read by. The book was ancient, telling about an ancient but powerful mechanical suit that gave the warrior amazing agility and stealth. Elerwyn was a strictly magical place, but the lands outside had evolved to constantly rely on technology. This armor was supposedly the first step in that. The model was for women only, for males who wore it suffered pain before going into battle that prevented them from fighting until the armor was removed. all but one suit was destroyed in the great Bot Battle of Balosang. The armor selected one female per generation to wear it, and only that chosen may wear it. Kitsune's eyes widened as she read of the great deeds that generation after generation of women had accomplished.

"Lady Kitsune! Lady Kitsune!" a women in a maid's uniform ran up to the young girl. Her raven hair had strands of red in it, and was in a couple pig tails. The maid panted in front of the sitting girl.

The young six year old's emerald eyes shown with worry. "What is it Mina?"

"Lady Kitsune, your father requests your presence." Tyhe maid stated.

"My dearest daughter, there is something you should know." Her father, in the grandness of his black gold trimmed tuxedo, towered above Kitsune. His dark hair had some grey streaks already, but his mustache stayed dark. Erin Kuani was best known for his grandfather, whom put Elerwyn in a state of peace. apparently, that peace could not last. "you remember that book you were reading just now?"

The young lady nodded. Resplendant in her pale blue dress.

Her father sighed. "You are the next to wear the suit. Destiny has chosen you." He smoothed his moustache. "You must leave tomorrow night to train, and begin your journey to find the suit. Only you can find it, as you are the chosen." Kitsune's eyes widened. Her father sighed, "I afraid I cannot go with you."

The six year old's eyes began to well up into tears. "B-but Papa! I want to stay here with you, so I can see Mama and-and." She began to sob. Her father gently patted her back. "I am sorry...my daughter..."

******6 years later******

"Papa!" cried the twelve year old Kitsune. Her father lay on the floor, a bullet wound in his chest. "If I had found the suit...I never should've been chosen. I could've saved you!" She began to sob.

"I-I'm sorry Kitsune." He rasped, "But you couldn't have. They attacked much too fast. *cough* and took all the spell books, the components, everything. *cough**cough*"

"Papa stop talking! We'll make you better! You'll get better!"

A weak smile crept to his lips. "I am truly sorry Kitsune. But it was best that you were sent off." He gently stroked her hair. "You're so beautiful. Your mother would be proud." He broke into a coughing fit.

"Papa!" Kitsune put her hands over the wound, and her hands glowed dark green. "Please get better. Please! Please! Please! PLEASE!"

"Kitsune, it's no use, let me tell you something before I go."

"Stop talking Papa! I can do it!"

"You're a very strong lady, Kitsune. Once you have the suit, no one can stop you. *cough* Your mother left you a sword. It's called a katana. Look in our basement. Look for it. It waits for you with... your own...dragon..." He stared at her. "Kitsune, I love..." His eyes closed and his head lolled to the side.

"Papa!"

**************

"Papa!" A sixteen year old Kitsune sat bolt upright in bed. Her blonde hair hung limply from her face, and she was covered in a cold sweat. A black dragon looked up at her with fond eyes. "S'okay. Just a dream."

She washed her face and got dressed. She hastily put on her classic black tank top. Her black pants and boots gave her full movement in practice. She then attached her katana to its sheath on her belt. Before she put on her red ruby pendant, she faced the wall. An image of her dying father came to mind. "DAMN IT!" she punched the wall, leaving an imprint in the metal.
