Eternal Love

Jordan Dane was your typical delinquent, teenage boy. He wasn't amazing and wasn't dull either. He was just another guy trying to get through life. If you ever met him, you would never give him a second glance. Now, add a gorgeous girl to the picture, his one and only love, Lauren Hark. For her, you would undoubtedly look back at her twice, three times, or maybe more. She was the most beautiful girl of her age, of her school, and of her town. This is a story of an undying love, a story of how 2 souls meet, and join forever. The story of 2 hearts coming together.

In his sophomore year of high school, Jordan had moved from the city to a rural town, where Lauren was born and lived at that time. Having his environment completely changed, Jordan was never in a very good mood. He had been separated from his friends, the mall, arcades, and other typical teenage city attractions. Jordan cursed his life, his family, and those who claimed to have power over him. Specifically, he hated authority. He was raised in a horrible family. His father beat him, his mother was always out dating other men. Jordan was always left to fend for himself. His once innocent childish soul kept gradually sinking into the darkness as the years past. He stole, he robbed, and he fought for his own survival. His future had never looked good. School was another place he despised, other than his home. In school, teachers told him, made him, and even forced him to do various tasks.

Tired of his life in that city, he decided to rob one more time. This time, he was going to do a big job. He planned to rob a bank. He took a month collecting tools and devising a plan. After that month, he was finally ready. This was his ticket out of the underworld. During the robbery, everything was going along as he had planned. He felt completely secure. Escaping from the bank, he slipped. One slip and his whole plan came crashing down. He was caught by the police and taken into jail. At his court hearing, he was taken from the care of his parents and deposited in a foster home located in a rural town. They thought that this would change him for the better. He was to leave immediately with no delay.

Returning home, Jordan quickly packed his bags, thinking, Yes! I can finally leave this dump! I can finally leave those ******** USELESS bitches who are supposed to be my 'parents'. He had no idea what kind of the place his foster home was going to be but he thought that anywhere would have been better than this place. After packing his few belongings, Jordan quickly left in a rush, ignoring his parents as they began to say things to him like 'Jordan, we love you' or 'We'll miss you'. He knew that what they said were all lies. To them, he was nothing. To them, he was worthless. They thought of him as garbage.

About an hour later, Jordan sat in the back of a taxi, headed towards a brighter future, towards his new home. His luggage safely in the trunk of the car, he yawned sleepily and rubbed his eyes as he watched the scenery flashing by his window. He rested his chin on his palm as he drifted asleep.

The car jerked to a stop a few hours later. Jordan jumped awake in the back seat and looked wildly around. Outside his window, he saw a small house. Just a single small house stood alone. It was surrounded by fields of different vegetations. He looked out the front windshield of the taxi. A few yards down was another house about the same size as the one outside his window. Jordan panicked and stuck his head into the front next to the driver’s seat and looked at the driver frantically. He pulled out a note from his pocket with the address on it and shoved it into the man’s face.

“Dude, are you sure you took me to the right place?!” he shouted.

The driver pushed the note out of his face. He seemed annoyed and a little angry but Jordan didn’t care at all.

“Yes, I am sure. Now get out of my car,” the man said coldly. He reached behind his seat and opened the back door before opening the trunk.

Shocked, Jordan listened obediently and got out of the car. He stood in front of the house, staring at it, stunned. This was to be his new home. He looked to both sides of him and then behind him. His eyes widened slightly as he took in his new environment. His new house was in the middle of nowhere. Suddenly, he jumped slightly as the taxi’s horn blared. The driver was leaning out his window, glaring at him.

“Take your luggage so I can get out of here, kid.”

Jordan looked blankly at the driver’s angry face. He nodded and walked to the taxi’s trunk, picking up his two duffel bags of clothes and other personal belongings. The moment he closed the trunk, the driver immediately drove away, leaving Jordan behind in a cloud of dust. Sighing heavily, Jordan picked up his bags and slung them over his shoulder. He stared out into the distance. Field after field of plants lined the land. He had never seen a place like this. With another heavy sigh, Jordan turned back towards the house and began to walk to the front door, his head hanging.

As Jordan knocked on the door, he thought he could feel the cement below his feet tremble. This place was so vacant, so lonely, and so empty. Faintly, he heard footsteps. They slowly came closer to the door, closer, and closer, until finally, Jordan heard the click of the door being unlocked. The doorknob turned and the door swung open. To Jordan, it seemed like an eternity as the door swung open and revealed the gentle face of an old man. A brilliant smile spread across the face of this man. Stepping forward, he held a hand out to Jordan.

“Hello there young man, my name is Edward Thompson. I suppose your Jordan Dane, correct?”

Jordan stood there speechless, staring at the outstretched hand of the old man. Absentmindedly, Jordan reached his hand out and grasped Edward’s firmly.

“Y-y-yeah, I’m Jordan,” he stuttered slightly, stunned at how he was now supposed to live with this old guy from now on.

“I’m glad you’re here, I’ve been expecting you,” said Edward with a gentle smile. He moved aside and beckoned for Jordan to enter.

Hesitantly, Jordan entered, stepping carefully into the small home. His eyes wandered around, taking in every small detail of this place he was now to call home. The moment Jordan stepped into the house; his eyes were met by a small living room. The decorations were nice and simple, not too plain but not dull either.
