All right...I've done it. I've started reading Naruto. Now, I know what some of you are thinking. "Oh no! You've joined the dark side!!" (My apologies to die-hard Naruto fans, but I'm sure you know that many hold this opinion)
Well...no. I haven't exactly "joined the dark side", if by that you mean that I plan on going out and watching all the anime and buying the whole series and getting posters and pretending I'm a ninja and all that...though, I must admit, being a ninja would be pretty cool. My affinity for playing bad-a** rogues in D&D should be a testimony to that. But my nerdiness is showing. *Tucks in nerdiness*
So. Back to my topic. I am currently in the middle of the second volume of the Naruto manga, and I must admit, I can hardly put it down. Yes, it's that entertaining. Granted, the character of Naruto acts, at times, like a middle school boy. But that's because he *is* a middle school boy, and I suppose it does credit to the author that he represented that age group rather well.
That's not to say the manga is never serious. Quite the contrary! It would probably be way too much if the author didn't include the silliness and middle-school boy "charm" which Naruto possesses.
All this to say, I have concluded that that Naruto has earned it's die-hard following, no matter how slow people say the anime is (I've never seen the anime, actually). The manga is excellent, and very worth reading. Though it makes me want to play Ninja Burger. That's an awesome game... ninja
