I will rant here since no one of consequence will read this and know what i am talking about, except my honey.

So where I grew up, the dominating religion was and still is 99.9999999999999% LDS. Which means, there are about 10 people who live there who aren't LDS. Anyways, The Church backs the Scouting program very very muchly so. There was this one guy in that ward (ward=congregation for those of you who don't know) where i could swear it was a requirement of his sons to have their eagle scout award before they turned 16, or he wouldn't recognize them as his sons or something. 4 out of his 5 sons have it (and one got the purple knot) As a father, you get an eagle scout tie tack. This guy has a gray suit coat with all four pins on the lapel and he will (no joke) PARADE down the aisles the fact that he has 4 eagle scouts for sons. This bugs me because does he not only apply that kind of pressure on his sons, but he also has been a scout leader several times. He was my scout master once upon a time. He did try to apply the same kind of pressure upon me. I am very very very tempted to walk up to him when i visit and corner him and flat out tell him, he was primary reason #1 why I didn't get an eagle. Another reason is that I really never could see no reason to earn it when in big business, no one really cares about an eagle. I can name at least 3 influential people who don't have it and they have congregations of people who follow them. (Paul Mitchell owners) If I were a business owner, and I was hiring people and two identical resumes were on my desk, and the only difference was one was and eagle scout, and the other wasn't, I would interview them both to see how they interviewed. I have gone to scout camp and I know most information is learned by rote, which means that it hits the brain only long enough to be spat out. the real reason boys go to scout camp is to stay up late playing 'forbidden' games including scum, poker, blackjack, and other games that involve face cards, hierarchy and any opportunity to exert power upon someone else.

all and all, in the end, this is what bugs me, people who think they are better than someone else because they are an eagle scout or have many sons who are eagle scouts and will sue as that an excuse to elevate themselves above someone else to the point they will all but say you are going to hell because you aren't or don't have sons who are eagle scouts.

and i hate being forced to swim against my will.
