My Journal
my happy place~
There's a cliff, somewhere above the coast. It overlooks the sea, a beautiful summer day with a setting sun. The hues of colors flash and fade slowly across the sky. There's nothing I can do but wait. The smell of salty air wafts around me for a moment before retreating back to the sea below. There is only enough room for two people to sit on the ledge comfortably. The wind rushed through red hair and blew the clouds around the sky. Hues and shades of blue, pink and violet race each other to the vast horizon. A race ending when the sun is gone, and the two people are still sitting. Another walks onto the scene, a tall man. Trench blowing in the wind for a moment before he walks up and stand behind the girl. Never did he sit with her, but his mere presence was a comfort. They knew the other was there, never said a word, never touched, and never looked to each others eyes for comfort. Words flew, unspoken and unheard between them. His eyes traced the sky, never looking at her. Watching, protectively over her from a distance and knowing that he was helping. She sat, at his feet as always, her left leg hung from the ledge. Out in the open space, the ocean calmed and the winds blew up past the cliff. The girls left hand held her right as the crook of her right elbow rested on her raised right knee. There was a friendship there, deep and strong. One that lasted and would remain. Nothing short of a face-off would kill that friendship. Turning her eyes to the sky, more words pasted and they smiled at once. The sky darkened behind them and lightened as the sun set slowly. A sign, the past is gone, shrouded in the minds mysteries. The light of the future will shine, and fade like all else, nothing left but to move forward. Hands in the trench pocket, the boy walked up and stood, no more then a fourth of an inch behind the girl, her hair whipping at his pant legs. The smile placed at the corners of his mouth as the sun's dying gasp pulled the color and light from the sky. The sun had set, the day was gone, but the friends remained unchanged~
