Imagine a beautiful and lush place, where food and water are a plenty and there's nothing you have to do without wanting to the air's clean and water's fresh. Well, keep on dreaming because even Hell would be prettier than the place I'm in at the moment. The air's absolutely filthy, the water reeks of foul and unnatural things floating in it, and anything edible has been processed so many times it's not different than chowing down on someone else's fecal matter.
That being said, walking through the dusty and decaying city of Ember was no different than walking the streets of any other city. Except for the high chances of being stabbed, shot, or mugged. Alright, Ember isn't like any other city. It has the highest rates of violent crimes and walking alone is almost a guarantee for being attacked. But it's still the capital of Mortaya.
