Jhonen Vasquez is a sick little puppy. His book "Johnny The Homicidal Maniac" is, big surprise, about a serial killer. He must paint the walls of his basement with blood to prevent the beasts of hell from being unleashed upon the world, a task he thoroughly enjoys. "Squee," a spinoff, is about a child who is constantly watching his worst nightmares unfold in real life, only to have them eclipsed by more unimaginable horrors. They are dark, violent journeys into the ills of the world and our minds, and they are friggin' hilarious. Squee lives next door to Johhny, or Nny, as he likes to be called, who climbs through Squee's window to use their sink to clean the blood off after a decent night of butchery. He likes to explain these things to the poor boy. It doesn't sound as funny as it is, does it? How about Squee being visited by a future self, only to learn that apparently time travel will come with grave side effects he has years to look forward to experiencing
Happy Noodle Boy is a cartoon supposedly brought forth from the mind of Johnny himself, though more likely is a result of a close deadline, a late night, and a barrel of coffee. It just makes no sense. Filler Bunny had that kind of origin, merely existing as a way to make deadlines, and despising that existence. Nothing says wacky like a cute, suicidal little bunny! I'm losing you here. Have you seen "Invader Zim" on Nickelodeon? That's this guy. Okay, I think mainly his fans are the audience for "Zim." Well, I reccommend it, and with the difficulty I have explaining it, you can tell it's an odd and original book, and for those with quirky taste, so enjoying it makes you more intelligent and open minded than the fluff monkeys who co-infest this little mudclump. Also, if you watch "Zim," Gir rocks, dude. Doom dee doom doom doom!
