Anime Central 2005: Part 1 |

Well, I'm back from the con and finally have a moment to talk about it! It was a freaking blast and I can't thank my friend Jacob enough for taking me. He's the man and everyone must know it! So what happened? Well theres a lot that happened over those three days and I want to type everything I can remember up here. However, I don't have enough time to cover all three days at the con so I'll do it in parts. Today, I'll cover thursday and friday!
Well, thursday came around and I was jumping around in excitement. I went on to work and managed to make it through the day with out going crazy. After work I was driving home and noticed something odd on the way out. I pulled up to a road to turn towards the highway and noticed a mini van signaling to turn down the road I was on. I wait a second but it stopped in the middle of the road. So I pulled out behind a truck that was going rather slowly I looked in my mirror to see the van pulled up behind me. I didn't think nothing of it, I was only really able to see it's headlights in my mirror anyways well the truck was slowly down and drifting from one side of the road to the other.
Then the van seemed to want to pass me, so I slowed off a bit but it stayed right beside me not going past. I thought it was odd and was feeling nervous from the truck not letting us through and this crazy van driving in a road only really meant for one lane traffic. Anyways, the truck turns out of the way so I take off down the road the van takes off behind me and tries to get beside me again. I'm just sitting there thinking "WTF?!" then it slows off and it starts blinking it's lights at me. So finally I pull off to the side of the road, to see Jacob pull up beside me.
This suprised me and I laughed about it, because my fabric on my cars ceiling is falling down I couldn't see anything but the vans grill in my mirror so I had no idea it was him. Well, he tells me he'll be by to pick me up at my house for the con later that night. We say goodbye and I go home to pack and talk with my girlfriend until he picks me up. It takes him a bit longer than expected but was fine nonetheless. Well we load up in the van and head over to his house. Everyone else shows up in time and they all start working on their cosplays. It starts storming pretty bad outside and was getting rather late.
So I hurried up and got the directions written out. After that I headed to bed to be waken up in about two hours. At 3:30 Jacobs mom wakes us up to get ready and go. She acts worried because of the storm and tries to make us go to sleep for a couple more hours. Just doing the mom thing, trying to make us stay there and not go. Well, we left at 4:30 or around there and spent the next four hours on the road. I navigated and Jacob drove we kept ourself up by drinking "red bull".
At around eight or so we finally get to the hyatt the hotel we were staying at, which is where the con is held. We go get our room and get suprised by it being cheaper than expected because they booked our room the night before, and gave us a different bigger one. After we settle that, we head over the registration line. Well, let's just say it was massive and for the next several hours we waited in line. Jacob pre registered so it only took him about half an hour. So while he was done he went and unloaded our bags into our room.
The line wasn't to bad, just got rather tiring we did trick Jacob making him think we couldn't go to the con which amused us for a while. Anyways, after 11 or so we finished and finally headed back to our room. After that we walked around the con for a while. At one point we jumped in the pool to relax and another somewhere in there we headed to the dealer room where I met Rikki Simons the voice of gir from invader zim! I shook his hand and we got him to say "I'm dancing like a monkey!" that was pretty cool meeting him. It was one of my favorite parts of the con.
After that we went and got tickets for the pillows concert which was to start around 6:30. After snagging those we headed back to our room and found a party room sponsored by ADV films which had a bunch of free food and things. They were watching a few animes too so we sat in there until it was around 6:30. Then we headed toward where the concert was being held and waited in line for that. When the doors opened we bolted towards the front and managed to get really close to the stage about ten feet away. Well, for the next two hours a cover band played random anime songs. That was pretty good but I was getting tired of standing.
After that band was done playing they made everyone leave so the pillows could set up. I ended up getting grabbed by some strange girl that snagged alex it freaked me out and I ran away yelling "I love my girlfriend! gonk " While I waited outside I pulled out my Nintendo Ds and ended up chatting in pictochat with about four people that were waiting in the huge crowd as well. That was pretty cool I thought.
Suddenly the doors open and everyone rushes in! I pushed my way to the front again I got about the same distance as before and stood behind three gaians. I talked with them for a few minutes they seemed pretty cool. Well the concert started and let me tell you. I've been to a few concerts before in my life and this was the best one I've ever been too. The Pillows played so well and sounded so great. They put on a freaking awesome show and I was there in the crowd singing along the whole way.
Usually I just stand and nod my head slightly, but this was to freaking cool to do that. I liked the pillows before because of FLCL and this concert just brought on a new found love for them. They're music was so vibrant and well good! I loved the lead singers motto he yelled to us at one point. "Music has no borders of race or religion, Music is for everyone!" he said some more but with his accent and people cheering it was hard to tell exactly, I just liked their music is fun attitude. I really liked his guitar too, it had "I think I can" labled on the front of it.
Now, that was pretty bad a**. Well, after the concert I was blown away and Jacob even managed to snag the song list from them! He had to argue with a girl for it. But he got half of the list! Anyways, after that I called my girlfriend and everyone headed back to the room we were pretty tired and the night calmed down. I loved the concert so much though, it was by far the best thing at the con. Well, thats all for this entry I'll cover the rest in the next couple of days.
