Alone in the shadows
Head in her hands
She dreamt of roses
And wedding bands.
A family who cared
A mother who was there
A man who would love her
And treat her fair.
But her heart has been broken
Her mind's been betrayed
Her home was left empty
And a father had strayed.
Alone in the shadows
With her silent tears
She cowers from affection
Running from her fears.
Confused and dazed
She can't understand
Why there's no roses
And no wedding bands.
