Good News
Following the depressing news of my dad's best friend's death (see previous journal entry for details), my dad now has some good news that he shared with us yesterday. HE MADE CAPTAIN~!!!! No...seriously. He was a Navy commander before but now he's a Captain select. That basically means that he's a captain but he hasn't been able to apply his stripes to his uniform yet. He wont be able to do that until he gets home sometime in October but it's still a good deal. ^_^ I'm so glad that he's gotten some good news finally. He did get sad though because he thought his friend would have been so happy and proud of him if he were still alive. The authorities in Santa Monica, California (where Major Crocker lived and worked as a police man, and where his funeral will be held) say that they're expecting more than 800 people at his funeral. I'm still blown away by that number. I mean...a lot of them are military but...800. *passes out* *come back* He must have been a very loved man.
