I'm a petite person and I try to be aware of my surroundings. I'm sick and tired of people who think they own the sidewalk, hallways and the ground where people pass by.
Walk on the right hand side of the street if you can. It's like when you're driving. You drive on the right hand side of the road and not the left hand side unless you're from Europe. It gets annoying when you're about to meet someone while walking and have to swerve out of the way.
Make some space for others. You do not own the entire street or path. This applies when you are walking in groups. Walk in twos or threes. Have you ever encountered groups of people walking in groups and there's no way for you to get pass them? Yup, it's so annoying.
Walk in a steady and normal pace. Refrain from walking too fast because you might bump into people. Also, do not walk super slow like you're on the moon. This happens a lot when you're also in groups and chatting about things. This also applies when you are multi-tasking. It's so annoying when people in front of you walk so slow and you have to slow down. Of course there are situations when people do slow down.
Be reasonable and be aware of your surroundings. Like I said, you do not own the pathways and some people are also walking around. Pay attention to where you are going and also of the people around you.
Monica's Tip: When you encounter a big group walking around like they own the road, stop and stand where you are and let them maneuver around you. And of course this group is also likely to walk slow, chatting, probably multi-tasking as well, and not even paying attention to their surroundings. If they bump into you and don't stop, then they are arseholes! If they bump into you and don't even apologize and just keep on walking, then they are bigger arseholes!!
