Tetsuko was the forever-happy girl. Always surrounded in her bubble of Happiness, she was oblivious to the feelings
Of those around her, and gradually those who
Surrounded her became cold and gloomy,
Happiness drained.
She wandered through life happy and blind to the ways of life, love and people, surviving on scraps given to her from charities and strangers.
The forever-happy girl was an orphan.
She felt she was lucky, because she could live and breathe and be healthy. She was forever positive.
Then when the bitter cold winters arrived, she huddled in the warmth of the town bakery, and an abandoned factory at night.
On one especially cold winter night, Tetsuko shivered in the empty factory, and old rag pulled over her to keep herself protected from the sleet that swept through the broken windows, an angel came to her. Bright and glowing.
The angel spoke, and the forever-happy girl listened. There they stood, immortal being and poor orphan.
For a long time indeed, they spoke, and the girl’s lips were blue with cold as the two stood amid swirling wind and snow.
Then the angel was gone, light and all. The factory lay dark and gloomy, as it had always been, devoid of the angel’s heavenly aura.
But there was change.
The forever-happy girl stood quietly there. For once, her face had lost its glow of happiness, now replaced with a look of thoughtful understanding. Wing feathers curled softly about her shoulders.
Then she flew, from alley to alley, street to street, spreading happiness, love and hope among the other beggars, orphans and poor people.
Today she is here still, flying among our skyscrapers and streets spreading new hope around the world.
Look around- you never know. For she might just be hovering behind you with her gentle touch and kind words.
She is the forever-happy girl.
