Marina's Journal
I don't have a particular theme here. I'll post when I'm bored or I find something interesting. Read it if you want to, I could care less. It's just a means of putting my words on a screen so that at least I can see them.
Chapter Four
Awakening

Am I even alive? What has happened to me? My memories..... they're so fuzzy.... Huh? Who's calling for me? Marina's thoughts, once scattered, started to drift back together, trying to find the source of the vioce she was hearing. "Marina! Marina, wake up! Marina!" Lain called, cradlig his bloodied-up llittle sister-by-adoption in his arms. "Unnnn..." Marina moaned, rolling towards Lain's abdomen to block out the light coming in from the mouth of the cave. So warm.... am I laying against something living? Her eyes quickly fluttered open when she realized that she was indeed laying against something. She sat up quickly and became lightheaded. "Easy, Marina. I don't have a clue what happened here, but I can tell that part of this blood is yours, even though your body has done an excellent job of healing your wounds, so quick movements are not in your best interest," Lain chastized, catching Marina's shoulders to steady her. When her vision cleared, Marina noticed who was sitting in front of her. "L-Lain? Lain, is that really you?" Marina asked, afraid she was dreaming again. "Who else would it be? Or don't you recognize me?" Lain asked, faking injured feelings. "LAIN!!!!!!!" Marina squealed, hugging him as hard as her present state would allow her to. "Oh God, I thought you were dead! I could have sworn you'd died when......" Marina's voice tapered off, as she was unable to say the words to finish her sentence. "When Midnight did," Lain finished, holding Marina close to him. Marina nodded. "We don;t know that. He told us - you, to be exact - to wait, saying that he'd come find us. He could very well still be alive," Lain added hopefully, attempting to raise Marina's spirits. "Ten years. It's been ten years since I last saw him. But... But you did come back, so..... maybe..... he might just be...... alive," Marina said, allowing herself to feel hopefull for the first time since he'd died. "What about Felicia? Did you ever find her?" Lain's response was holding up his left hand to display the simple silver engagement band around his ring finger. Marina grinned and hugged Lain even harder. *Gasp* "Can't....... breathe.... Get.... off," Lain gasped overexaggerating how tightly Marina was holding him. He playfully tousled Marina's hair, knowing that she hated it when he did that. "When Felicia heard a rumour that you were in the area, she practically kicked me out of the town, she wanted me to find you so badly. I am to take you straight back to our home and present you to herfor hugging at once," Lain said to Marina as he scopped her off of th efloor an walked out into the sunlight. "It's not too far from here, so I'll just walk. Don't worry: I've already gathered what few belongings of yours I found and oput them in your bag. We're going home," Lain said, looking out on the horizion but not seeing anything. Marina knew he was seeing their old home, the one they'd lived in before the civil war in their country had broken out. "We'll rebuild there someday, Lain. Then, when you and Felicia are married, you two can live there," Marina said as she reached up and patted Lain on the head. She began humming Midnight's lullaby to herself to make herself relax. He says you could still be alive. Could he be right? Will I ever see you again?
