Wednesday, November 21:
So, yeah. I closed last night with Julia and her new manager trainee for a different store location (and the guy looks, sounds, acts, and is the same age as my favorite character I created for my book- Timber Wolf). Everything went smoothly. I left, only to know I had to return in the morning (9 am until 4) for my shift.
Well, I get out of the car and bid mom farewell for the morning. She watches me walk up to the store, and I KNOW she was confused when I stopped dead in my tracks. She pulled up, concerned, worried, thinking that my second key manager (the one I was opening with) forgot what time it was again and what time I usually arrived. The door was locked, sure, but that's not what was catching my attention.
We have sliding doors with thick, tempered glass. Down towards the bottom of the door there was a shattered, almost kicked in area of the glass.
Someone had tried to break in.
Aghast, as soon as my manager let me in, I questioned him. Apparently he, too, thought the same thing. In fact, when he arrived, it was like that. I shook my head, silently wondering why someone would try and risk it. We clearly had alarm system stickers plastered all over the outside, and it WAS set last night. Two sets of glass sliding doors, both locked and wired to the system. Tempered glass, like stated before, that could hold up to almost anything (the shattered part had a spiderweb effect; didn't give in, but whoever it was tried to kick hard enough).
Really, someone had to be STUPID to try that.
My second key manager even said something that made me truly sick, pitying the desperate measures of the unknown person's action. What he said was this, "This is a low budget store. You won't gain much from stealing here. Why would you? You have to be really desperate to do so".
To this, I replied, "It's the Holidays. It brings out the worst in people... along with the best".
And that, my friends, is true. I mean, think about it! The holidays are notorious for thefts and crimes, donations and fund raisers; from prayers to curses, stressed out families to loving, tender moments... It's amazing. Seeing this dark reminder on how the Holidays take even the biggest toll on anyone desperate enough to get a leg up on this occasion...
It's sad.
That... and our stores around here have been getting hit and robbed in the middle of the night. Our store could have been one more in a long line.
heart Peace out, ya'll! heart

The long forgotten lore of my life
When I feel like it I'll update with my thoughts, views, nonsensical ramblings or events. Just another look into my chaotic enough life. I never know what's going to happen.
