A day, while he was fighting against an orc, the orc asked for help and so, another orc, an archer, came to help him. The archer was aiming already when a second orc, bigger and with a short sword. When the archer shoot the arrow, Drenix, that have managed to kill the first orc, used him as a human shield blocking the arrow, then threw the orc aside and charged in zigzag avoiding the arrows, against the bigger orc, the one with the sword. The orc attacked, cutting only the air, since Drenix had crouched just in time before he ends up beheaded. With a quick strike, stabs the orc righ in the jugular, then ended the creature's life stabbing his heart.
Quickly, changed weapons, drawing the sword he had earned in the training hall before he left. Dashed towars the archer who never stopped shooting arrows.

-Arent you going to give up and run for your life? -asked
-Impertinent human...
-Hah...-couldnt start to laugh about those words, because he got careless and an arrow hit his left arm.
-Puny human.

Drenix kept charging agains the orc with the arrow still on his arm, then turned to his right a second before another arrow hit him, while grabbing the sword with all his strengh cutting the head of the orc with a swift attack.
He remained there for a few more seconds, recovering his breath and thinking on what had happened and then laid againt a tree.
Enduring the pain, took the arrow from his arm, cleaned the wound and finally put some bandages. Fortunately the arrow didnt hit any vital spot, and the hemorrhage was small.

He laid there for a while, resting under that tree, but his calm didnt lasted too long... someone not too far screamed.
Drenix kept silence a few seconds, trying to hear better. After that, he stands up and runs toward the place he heard the scream.
On the ground was lying someone he knew already.

-What the... Meli?
-Uuh... who? Who are you?
-It's me Drenix, remember? What happened to you?
-I... I dont know, everything happened to fast... I was... I was doing something the grand magister of the School of Magic told me and... I felt a strong wind hitting me. After that I dont know anything else, I just remember feeling too cold, then the wind again after that I was unconscious as you found me... ouch...
-I think it was a mage... those sons of a...

Drenix took her in his arms and carry her to his improvised camp, under the tree.

-Wait, where's my sword? -ask Meli- And my boots?... my armor?
-It looks like they stole your stuffs too.
-Sons of a...
-Easy there, you're going to have your revenge later. But now, you need to rest and heal, ok?

In the camp, Drenix gave his sword, and armor to her.

-Take this -he said
-But... it's your sword
-It's ok, take it
-But how about you?
-Dont worry, I have this -showing the wooden sword
-Hahaha... ouch... it hurts when I laugh -said trying to hide the pain in his expresion-, but you wont be able to protect yourself with that at least nor for long.
-I can poke them >.>

They both laugh.

-Besides, I have my dagger, and it's something. Now you need to rest some more.

-I'll stay with you until you feel better.

The night was falling already, and with her, some cold. He took a blanket from his bag and covered Melisad with it.
She was sleeping calmly. While he was guarding, with a pill on his hand, just in case.
The next morning while she wakes up, Drenix was making something to eat, some fishes he catched in a nearby stream. He also had a new armor.

-I told you this sword was useful,look what I got.

-Aww, thank you, I'm feeling better, but my body still hurts.

Drenix remained at close to her while he hunt and train, until she was completely fine. Looking after her so noone would attack her.
Some days later, she was hunting orcs with him. They take the orc's necklaces and amulets to the captain of the guards and he pay them some adenas for each one they bring.
A couple more of days, while they were hunting, she comments:

-I think I finally healed by completely
-Yeah? It's nice to hear that.
-Than---
-Look out!!!

In the second she got careless, an orc was charging at her with his sword. Drenix threw his dagger and hits the orc's belly. But that wasnt the only thing attaking her, an archer was aiming and shooting at her. Jumping in front of her, Drenix catched the arrow. His left side was getting used to the arrows, because that arrow landed on his left shoulder.
Melisad killed the orc behind her while Drenix harly fought and killed the archer with his wooden sword, using the sharp tip.

-I think this is yours -said Melisad giving im the dagger.
-Thanks
-No, thank you.
-It was nothing.
-You have an arrow in your shoulder because of me.
-If you take it out we're even.
-Ok
-Ouch
-I'm sorry
-Dont worry, it doesnt hurt that much.

Tooks some new bandages from his backpack. Not wanting to waste the old bandages, used it to clean the edge of the dagger. Melisad, went meanwhile to the village to get some new bandages and some food.

After some more time, and when she was alright, and safe, he decided it was time to leave.

-Meli...
-Yes?
-I... have to leave...
-What? Where?
-I have to go back to the continent.
-But... ok... it's ok. Will you come back again?
-To the island?, I dont know, but if you ever go to the continent we may see each other again.
-Right.

He took his stuffs in the bag. The dagger on his belt as always, the bow in hand nad the backpack in the shoulder.

-I hope I'll see you again -she said while he was leaving.

Drenix went straight to the pier, without looking back,... for some reason, he felt that would be the last time they'll see each other.

Waited for the ship and boarded as he arrived.
They reached Gludin the next night.
