Marina's Journal
I don't have a particular theme here. I'll post when I'm bored or I find something interesting. Read it if you want to, I could care less. It's just a means of putting my words on a screen so that at least I can see them.
Chapter Ten
Saying Goodbye

Marina shifted into a sitting position with her head against the wall and Lain pulled a chair up to the end of the bed, ready to hear the story. "You won't like this," Marina cautioned, but Lain just gave her the "get on with it already" look and waited silently. Marina sighed. "Understand, I can't see all of it, and I may be missing something major, but I will tell you all I know. While I was trapped inside of my mind, I ran into a fragment of teh dark energy Vakir hit me with, and it showed me what he was planning at the time of the attack. Most of what I saw has to have already happened, but I also saw his plans for the future. Obviously, there are holes, as no one ever has every detail of something completely worked out, and things are bound to have changed since this plan was made." Marina took a breath, summoning up the energy to tell her brother was she saw. "Anyway, I saw a field overlooking a body of water, probably a lake or shallow sea. People were gathered there, legions of daemons all Hell-bent of escaping whatever is holding them. Vakir is there, and he's talking to them, promising them a sacrifice of one of their bretheren and an angel in order to free them, in exchange for their freedom. One of them speaks up and reminds Vakir that the sacrifices must be male. He nods. He opens his mouth and says that they'll come, just give him time. At this point, they're all riled up, but then something happens, something that's obviously not part of the plan, because there's anger and fear on Vakir's face, but I can't see what. There's a hole. When I can see again, the daemons are gone, though I have no clue where to. Shih and Vakir are locked into battle with someone, but I can't tell who. There are storm clouds in the distance, and the wind on this cliff is picking up, so the situation has become very dangerous. Then there's another hole. The last thing I saw was a vision of starting over the cliff at teh stormy water below, and feelign anguish and sadness." Marian looked up at Lain, steeling herself for what she had to say next. "I am afraid you and Midnight were there in that vision, and it was one of you going over that cliff. There is also a quick snatch of vision where it looks liek someone is killed, and I cannot allow one of you to die. Besides, you two fit the description of the required sacrifices. I'm sorry, but you two cannot come with me. I must stop this alone." Marian pushed herself to her feet, staring at the door. "The sooner I leave, the better." "Hell no, Marina. There's no way you're leaving this house to do this!" Lain said angrily, getting to his feet and grabbing Marian's arm. "I will not allow you to leave." Marina looked over to Lain and quickly murmured, "Brother, please forgive me," then she focused a strong bolt of her energy up Lain's arm, causing him to faint. She walked back to where Midnight was laying. "I'm so sorry I have to leave you, but I promise I'll be back," she murmured into his unconscious ear, then kissed him lightly on the cheek and turned to leave. Felicia was standing in the door. "I heard something hit the floor. Marina, what are you doing?" Marina sighed and forced herself to remain calm. "I have to leave. Do not try to stop me." "After you knocked out Lain? I don't think so!" Felicia spread her arms, completely blocking the door. "Felicia, I do not wish to harm you, but if you do not let me go, I will have to," Marian said quietly, shifting daemonic and summonig up energy. When Felicia still did not move, Marina sighed and said, "Then you have done this to yourself," and loosed a medium sized energy blast that knocked Felicia out, but otherwise caused no damage. Marina picked her up and placed her by Lain. Turning to take one last look at the little group that served as her family, she walked out the door into the darkness outside. She had a job to do.
