I can't believe it
"I can't believe little Pepper hasn't been acting up as of late!" Tina exclaims.
"I can't believe I still haven't gained a frickin pound..." Zee growls.
"I can't believe Yinxao's a cat..." Zapook said, still staring in suprise at Yinxao.
Yinxao giggles, "I can't believe it's not butter! ...I'm sorry. I could not pass that opportunity up."
Zapook just sat there, staring at Xaolin, "How did you know she was a cat?"
"You mean you can't smell it? I guess you don't have the same senses as us." Zee shrugs.
"I saw this at first as well. Though I never brought it up only because I thought you were aware of this from the start." Tina nodded, "Well. I must be off. Pepper is going clothes shopping with me."
With that, they went their separate ways. Zapook went to her own room with Yinxao, showing her friend a few experiments. Including the creature that has evolved from the bottle she carried on her back.
Zee went back to taking care of the smaller residents of the house, and scaring away any stranger that got near.
Tina was focused on bettering Pepper, and putting food in the house.
All in all, the house was back to it's crazy state. Though Tina's spore some how sprouted eyes. Besides that, everything has been the same...
"Ugh! So bored!" Zee shouted, "Everything is the same! Same crazy chases....Same unannounced acts of destruction and violence...Same threats on others' lives...Same amount of random visitors...Oh...a visitor!"
Responding to a knock on the door, Zee skipped to the front room and grinned at the sight on the other side. Tina and Pepper were holding a bag of food each, and stepping out of Tina's van, was a face from a long while back...
Mikey, the Young empath. [1]
"Mikey!" Zee smiles evilly as she walks toward him, "It's been while my friend! Where have you been!"
Mikey grins, "If it isn't that cat that nearly killed me. You do know I can still read emotions right? And right now, I can tell you want to try a make a meal of me yet again."
Zee grins, "Then you'd be right. Now get over here so I can give you a nice long tummy hug!"
"I learned a new trick, Ms. Zee."
"Oh yeah? What's tha-" Zee seeming runs into an invisible wall, and falls back, looking around curiously. "...What the hell?"
"I learned how to put up barriers." Mikey giggles.
Yinxao was walking around carrying Zapook's grunny, Boem, and petting him as she made her way to the kitchen for a snack.
She found Aussa taking a break from her games and chatting with Mikey at the kitchen table and decided to join the two of them. Througout the entire conversation, Mikey constantly kept looking over at Yinxao, a little disturbed, and left the room abruptly, leaving Aussa and Yinxao to go back to talking.
Mikey found Zapook in her own room, grooming the pony like creature that came from her vial.
"Ms. Zapook?"
Zapook smiled up, "Hey. If you're coming in, shut the door. I don't want Vist running out. And don't worry, I won't try to eat you like Zee. You're too big for my tastes."
Mikey nods, shutting the door behind him. "I figured you were different from Ms. Zee. So...Vist is this horse here?"
"You know..I'm not even sure it's a horse or a unicorn...after all, it was formed from a liquid that changed into a wierd mist. That's what happens when you try to mix science and magic."
"Yeah.." Mikey starts to pet Vist, "I ...I need to talk to you..."
"Yeah? What about?"
"Ms. Yinxao is your friend, right? I mean...she talks about you a lot."
"Yeah? What about her?"
"I've been getting some really mixed readings from her. She seems so cheery and happy, and ...erm...flirty with other girls..."
"Yeah, that's Xao Xao. She likes other cat girls, though she's one herself. But she looks nothing like one! When I found it...man..I can't belive she kept that secret from me!"
"I have a feeling that ain't the only secret she's keeping."
"Why do you say that?"
Mikey looks down, "She's all happy and everything...but this sixth sence of me...it's telling me that she's hurting inside, like she's fighting with herself. I'm worried about her, and about you, since you two are so close."
"Oh..? I'll..I'll talk to her later."
The calm evening of the house was broken by the sound of something breaking.
Tina and Zee were fighting again...
Zapook, Mikey, Yinxao and Aussa watched as the two of them wressled in the middle of the front room, growling angrily at each other.
Yinxao tugged at Zapook's shirt, "I know most felines, be they sentient or not, are violent by nature, but...I didn't know Tina was so ... rough.."
"Yeah..." Aussa sighs, "She's only like that with Ms. Koopa. I mean...Zee. It's kinda scary seeing them fight."
At this point, Tina and Zee reverted to thier natural beast forms; Zee being a normal sized red tiger with black stripes, and Tina, a slightly larger snow leopard with bright red eyes and a star shapped spot on her chest. The two of them slashed and clawed at each other, growling angrily before giving up and retreating to different parts of the house, as if nothing had happened.
Yinxao just sat there, scratching her head. Aussa and Mikey just left, continuing with thier own business.
"But...I don't understand..." Xao said as she followed Zapook back to her room, "They are sisters, are they not? How can two sisters constantly fight with each other?"
Zapook sighs, "It's not really constant...they mostly just play harmless...and sometimes...harmful jokes on each other. It's as you said. Cats can be a little violent...mostly territorial in this case."
"Over this house?"
"Over a man."
"...A...man?"
"Zee used to be in love with this other guy...but after a few... complications... she kicked him to the curb. Mind you, I wasn't around much at this point. Tina was interested in a guy, who caught Zee's interested a little later on. Around the time I came in...Zee and Tina were ready to kill each other for that guy...Most of their other fights sprouted from the fact that they wanted the same man. So they constantly compete with each other. They protect each other too."
"Protect...I'm confused. How does that work, exactly?"
Zapook stops at her room door, slowly opening it, "Well....They see each other differently. The way Tina sees it, force may be necessary to get a point across with Zee, but no matter what, she never wants to see family die. Zee, however...She doesn't want anyone to kill Tina because if Tina dies, she wants it to be by her hands alone. Basically, Zee's calling dibs on her."
"...I see."
"...Hey Xao, I've revealed a lot about myself, you know? Even let you see the family."
Yinxao smiles and nods, "And that was nice of you. I hope to return that favor one day."
"Funny you should mention that..." Zapook plops onto her bed, and sighs heavily, "What's been up with you? Hmm? What's been bothering you so much?"
"Me!? Oh, nothing!"
"Xao..."
"Really. There is nothing I bothering me..."
"Xao...come with me."
Zapook led Yinxao out the front door.
Yinxao walked by Zapook's side, nudging her, "Is something wrong?"
Zapook sighed, "I was asking you that. Thought we'd get out of there, you know, where people can't hear us? Now...I know something's been on your mind. Want to tell me what's been up?"
Yinxao looks down at the ground, fidgeting and biting her lip. She sighs and sadly looks up at Zapook.
"Zapook...I...I-"
She was interrupted, a loud crash from a nearby window. With a loud screech, a large black griffin takes off into the evening's sky.
The only thing heard afterward besides it's screeches in the distance as Zapook and Yinxao stared off at it, was Zee's squeals from inside the house...
"My bad!! Let it off the leash!"
