Crumpets
Me and Lori were inspired to make crumpets since they sounded really good... and all... crumpety! Sooo, we looked up a "traditional" crumpet recipe.

(many minutes later...)

WERE BAAAACK!!! Okay, we finished cooking like 11 crumpets and they are absolutely scrumptious! I lightly basted them in butter, and sprinkled them with powdered sugar... like a winter wonderland of tastiness! But, jelly would be a better topping because after a while the butter and oil make the crumpet really greasy... Plus butter and sugar don't mix that well.

They were really easy to make so if you have a sudden desire to eat crumpets,
here's the recipe we used for "Traditional" English Crumpets:

Oh, and if you use 4 cups of flour... your going to make a lot of crumpet mix!

Things You’ll Need:
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tbs. baking powder
1 1/2 tsps. sugar
1 1/2 tsps. salt
1 tsp. dry yeast
3 cups warm water
Oil for frying
Frying pan
Crumpet rings

Step 1: Sift the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and yeast together over a large bowl.

Step 2: Heat the oil in the frying pan and prepare for frying.

Step 3: Add the water one cup at a time to form the crumpet batter.

Step 4: Place metal crumpet rings carefully in hot pan and reduce heat to medium.

Step 5: Carefully pour the crumpet batter into each ring. Crumpets will start cooking immediately.

Step 6: Cook for 8 to 10 minutes until small bubbles/holes start to appear on the top of each crumpet.

Step 7: Remove the rings using tongs.

Step 8: Cover the frying pan and leave to cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes until crumpets are firm. They should be a light brown color on the bottom.

Step 9: Remove from the frying pan using a spatula and let cool on a wire rack.

Step 10: Serve and enjoy! Ads by Google

Tips & Warnings
Crumpets are best served toasted; after they have cooled, slice them for the toaster and serve with fresh butter and jam.

Crumpets can be used to make a healthy sandwich.

Crumpets freeze easily and can be heated in the microwave or toaster.

Try crumpets with butter and honey for a classic treat!

Whole wheat flour may be used for a healthier version.

Avoid burning the crumpets by checking the bottom of each during cooking.

There's no need to flip the crumpet at any stage; the
holes should appear on just one side when they are cooked completely.
