The Heart of the Angel
Isn't it funny, how people say they don't want power, yet kill others to get it? Comments gladly accepted!
Punishment
Note, this little story is based strongly on the description of the Death's Whisper.

By the end of the funeral, she had made up her mind. She was going to get him back, no matter what. Without a sound, she returned home and changed into a more comfortable outfit and went to old witch at the edge of town. "I want my fiance back." She demanded firmly. The witch eyed her for what felt like ages before a wicked smile curled across her dry and cracked lips.

"Of course, my dear..." The witch replied in a raspy voice. The young woman followed the witch into a back room and noted the carvings on the floor. The witch beckoned for her to step into the center of it. The second she did, flames came forth from the floor and she felt herself fall. It was several seconds before her feet met ground again. Grunting softly as she hit hard, warm rock, she gathered herself and looked around. It almost looked like she was in a dormant volcano, lava flowed and rocks rose high above her head. for a time, all she could do was stare.

"Why have you come here, mortal?" A voice suddenly asked. Chills ran down to her bones, making her jump to her feet and looked to the source of the voice. And there he was. Her love in the hands of Death itself. She never moved, staring at his battered and broken form. Death looked down at the body and then to the young woman. "Leave."

In an instant, she flung herself at the cloaked figure, screaming for it to let go of her fiance. As she neared, Death rose its hand and two dark creatures came forth. The creatures lunged at the woman, claws sinking into her dark skin and drawing the crimson liquid that was life from her body. Still, she fought back. Through some amazing work, she managed to fight off the creatures, but not without injury. No longer able to see, she clapped her hands over her bloody eyes, crying and sobbing. Death stood over her, watching without a word. Her sobs eventually faded and the being of the dead reached out a hand again. From the depths of its robe, a ribbon came forth and curled around her head, covering her bloody eyes and face.

"Your blind love has made you blind." Death whispered. Suddenly, the young woman lunged at him, clawing and screaming. The same hand that had produced the ribbon was soon holding a multi-toothed dagger. With a single, smooth, swing, the dagger was planted into her arm, forcing a pained scream out of her as she collapsed to the ground. "May a curse be with you for all time. Never again look on the face of your beloved. If you had only left when I had told you, then I would have given him back to you." Death murmured. The woman could only scream in agony as she was returned to her town, the dagger still planted in her arm.
