It was really nice to get out of my apartment. As much as I loved it, and the beautiful view of the town, it was just nice to get off the top floor. Granted, I was going to end up two floors down to continue to work on the electronic aspects of Grindin' Gears, but I had a few errands to run beforehand.
Waving a quick hello to both Melodeau and Kluteau, Retrostacja and I headed down the street to a small cafe I had learned to love over the years. Ordering my usual (coffee, two eggs over easy and extra homefries), I sighed before lighting a cigarette and resting my head on my hand. Even though I no longer had a mouth, and could no longer eat food, breakfast was a ritual that I hadn't broken except for Malfunction Days. I'd come here as a child with my parents, and I planned on going for years to come.
People watching was pleasant, especially at such a small place where I could easily watch the same people almost day by day. It had occurred to me that they probably watched me just as much, but our deals of observation never were spoken.
I was glad nothing was going on that day other than the usual; I wasn't in the mood for things moreso than normal these past few days. There was so much work and anything else was taunting me to go over the edge.
With an invisible smile I took the breakfast, only to feed it to Retrostacja.
