Sitting at the little tables outside The Clockwork Cabaret, legs crossed with my cup of coffee resting peacefully on my knee, I felt an odd sense of tranquility.
Leaving my friend Hal extra tip, I then headed towards Sam's Body and Parts, knowing that my car was in great need of a tune-up. Well...it had been there for several days and I had to go see what Sam and Edy suggested. A small pang in my chest resonated throughout her body at the thought of the Greaser man, his slicked back hair and attitude something I could never get enough.
Greeted by Sam, I scanned the available accessories for my Element. Humming to myself, I ran my hands over the multiple lighting options. Quickly I picked the pink under lights. When Sam suggested that I look at a whole new car, simply on the fact that new ones were in, I declined. I very much enjoyed her sushi topped car. And as much as I liked the Zurg...a UFO was not my taste.
This time I drove back to the Pit Stop, parking in the back before heading through the front door. Kluteau and Naomi (the new cashier) were organizing shoes. It seemed to keep the seemingly pretentious girl from talking out of turn. For a moment or two, Retrostacja ran around Naomi's legs before following me up the intricate spiral staircase into the second floor.
The second floor was my haven. With the dozens of Gaians of all kinds sharing the beat of the music together, it was a small sanctuary for anyone who felt left out. But it wasn't time for me to dance, despite the entrancing tunes Melodeau was providing. With a little wave to him, I headed into the small back room my lap and started to untangle them. The new shipment of strobe lights had gotten very tangled in the process of shipping.
It was dirty work, but somebody had to do it.
