To sum it up, they fixed the law system by balancing it into a different kind of light. You have laws which seem almost impossible to uphold, (such as "no missing" wink and in return for doing so, you get rare items and a bonus to help turn the tide of the battle. So the only real punishments to breaking the law is the inability to revive party members and the loss of some pretty good benefits. Personally, I'm still gonna shut off the game if I break such laws considering I want that equipment (an issue I'll explain a little later in this rant) which, just like the last FFTA, determined which abilities you learned. All in all, they made the laws less daunting and made their effects only temporary instead of a stat decrease... crying
BUT, they also decided to come up with the most stressful way to get new equipment ever invented by Square-Enix, The Bazaar. During battle, just like FFXII, monsters will drop loot, which you can trade in for a package or a rare item of equal value to what was given. Except, that's the only way to get them into the market... period... So the strength of one's characters depends on the loot they come by. Not to mention that you actually have to seek out members, including the two races that you don't start with, on certain days and in certain places instead of them asking every other mission to join.
There were a few things I noticed that seemed to be missing or potentially the potentially nerfed classes. First of all, we seem to be missing random battles, while I don't doubt they exist, I've just yet to see them appear. The White mage, or the previous starter for the Sage/Alchemist combo because of it's high aptitudes in MAG ATK/RES and MP, has not only lost it's Protect and Shell to the green mage, a pointless support class, but healing spells now seem to run on Disgaea's RES system, where it's the resistance that determines the amount healed, not the MAG ATK. Once again, it's too early to confirm all or any of this, so don't jump on me or anything. I'm just stating what I know from what I've played so far.
