ITS ME!
I was still so tired yesterday that I hadn't even realized that I had actually forgotten to write in my journal. Rats. Well thats another 50 in gold that I won't be getting. Oh well.

The trip north was an eye opener. And I came home with a lot of artical material. I like to write you see and I am always looking for new material. I don't publish anything. I don't ever send anything in. But I do like to write. Maybe something I say in one of them will be seen sometime and someone will like it. Who knows. Maybe it will mean something to someone and open their eyes to something they never really thought about.

At anyrate I am using my sisters journal as a writing platform. So if you ever want to read it you might look her up in my friends list. Sweetangeltoes. I do the writing there. She is a good sister and lets me get away with it as long as she gets the gold in her account everytime I post in there.

The trip was long it seemed. I don't mean the traveling. I mean the constant going while I was there. There was no relaxation time there. I visited and I toured. I have family there and they are very important to me. I realized just lately that my aunts and uncles are now senior citizens. My aunt is going to be 70 this week. Just a couple days before my sons birthday. My uncles are a bit younger. My mother is actually the youngest at 58 as of the 30th of July. I also got to see my one cousin and both of her kids and thier children and one of their spouses. I enjoyed seeing them all again. I didn't get to see the one aunt or any of the other cousins. I dont know where the cousins live and I wish I would have had time to see my aunt that I didn't get to see. That was very disappointing.

One thing I did learn was that a childs eyes sees things very differently then and adults eyes does. The house I did a fair amount of growing up in (compared to all of the others) was smaller then I remembered. The bushes out front were gone and they had the house returned to its victorain house stage. it was split into apartments when I lived there. I lived in both apartments. For a while upstairs and then the rest of the time in the lower apartment. The garage was still standing but still didn't have a door on it. I remember when that thing came down. The old mulberry tree I had a tire swing on was just now being cut down. I don't know why. I wish it was still strong and healthy like it was when I was a child. The porch was smaller too. It was a good place to play and hang out when I was a child.

The towns were larger the old neighborhoods were completely changed. Where the african americans once lived mexicans now live. Where the mexicans once lived some other group now lives. The white middle class neighborhoods were now african american neighborhoods. The white middle class moved to the suburbs and built large expensive houses they really can't afford. I was in all of the neighborhoods that I knew when I was a child and they have all changed. Its not a pretty town anymore. Some parts of course are nice but for the most part its not a nice place anymore. I have pictures I found on the net that are of the city in the 30'3 and 40's. It was once a very lovely city. Too bad all of that is gone now. In the actual small towns there was so much growth and so much change that when we initially went through them I didn't recognize them much at all.
You can go home again.. only its no longer your home when you get there. Its someone elses.
