My Heart in Your Hands
I want to fly home to where I left my heart,
While I'm away my heart is slowly breaking,
Unable to see your smiling face shining above me.
Unable to know why or how,
You hold my heart in your hands,
Only you choose if to hold it strong or let it crumble.
You dry my tears by the sound of your voice,
Alone in the dark you make me feel safe when others can't,
I'm afraid to get too close, showing my true self.
When I'm with you I don't feel alone in a crowded room,
With you I don't need to hide and pretend to be something I'm not.
Will you hold my heart with yours or leave it in the dirt alone?
Will you keep me safe from the known past and the unknown future?
Will you hold me close as I cry or as we laugh together?
Do you care for me as I care for you?
Do you love me as I love you?
