WHY?

Lance
"Soph, I don't understand." I say. I really don't. "This wasn't my fault!"
Her face tensed. Lioness Soph bared her fangs. "You kissed her!" She yelled, pointing a finger at Amy, who smirked. Why is she smiling?
"I didn't have a choice! She forced me!" I defended.
"Then why didn't you push her off?" She said, voice deep with pure fury.
"It happened so fast that I couldn't do anything!" I explained. Amy still smiles.
Lioness Soph was going in for the kill. "Lance, you're a football player. You're strong. You could have pushed her off if you wanted to. You're just a jerk." She said. I felt like dying right there. Why? Why does this happen to me? The bus stopped along with my heart. We filed off the bus and into school.
My overly easy classes seemed too long today, like every classes time had been doubled. Except for one. World History. I was sitting across from her, as usual. But instead of warmly smiling at me like usual, she looked straight ahead at Mr. Hasneux, taking bullets. Roy, who was to my left, passed me a note. Looks like Soph's more into Mr. Has-No-Balls than you. You get into a fight? I chuckle at the stupid nickname we gave our teacher.
"Lance, would you like to share?" Mr. Hasneux called. I was startled.
"Um, okay." I say. "Roy just passed me this note that says you need to grow a pair." The class erupted in laughter. Mr. Hasneux shushed us. I glanced to the right and saw a light smile on Soph's face. But then I realized she was smiling because Mr. Hasneux was writing me and Roy's names on the detention list. Great. I'd love to hear No-Balls give another lecture.
Class ended. Soph didn't wait for me by my locker. I sighed. I felt like my heart had been ripped out. Why did Amy kiss me like that? Why did Soph have to walk out just then? And why didn't I push her off? A million questions filled my head. Does Soph hate me? How long will she be mad? I hope I can apologize. Why me? All I could see in my head was that smug little smile on Amy's face.
God, I hate her.
I go to detention like a good little delinquent. No Balls gives me and Roy a lecture about respect and dignity. What a load. It was pretty boring, until Roy pointed out that No Balls had a huge booger on his mustache. Then we laughed and got yelled at worse. No Balls threatened to call coach, so I laughed louder. He called coach, and coach laughed louder than Roy and I put together. But then he said I'd have to sit out a game for misbehavior. Oh well. It was so worth it.
If only Soph had been laughing too.

They say more than what is spoken,
Promises always get broken.
