Identity
Real Name: Richard Orlando Barnett Gender: Male Age: 20s Birth-date: Summer Birthplace: Aekea Race: Human-Gargolon mix Ethnicity: African American Profession: Biker / Dealer Marital Status: Single Location: Gaia
Personality: Richard is rough around the edges, he’s a guy who life has not been kind to and thus does not feel the need to be overly kind to anyone else in return. He often feels like a man against the world and his back is in a corner, he often wears his “hater blockers” the assortment of shades that shield his eyes. He often vulgar in his language and pissed off at something or another even when things are going his way. However in regard to several subject there can be traces of mirth of fascination in his voice, subjects that include sports (especially baseball), women, drugs, bikes and making money. Any introduction is a confrontation, any deal a hassle, any job a chore if it doesn’t have to do with those subjects.
With all this hate and anger built up into his bones, one has to wonder why he even gets out of the bed in the morning. Why does he bother? Well he has to get that paper for one and if he must get up into a world that he loathes so, he might as well have fun while he's at it. So that why you might see him at your local watering hole, strip club or street corner. He's either getting wasted, getting a** or getting that cash money.
Appearance
Height: 6'1'' Weight: 225 lbs Dominant Hand: Right
Description: Richard is dark brother with strong defining features: a big nose, fat lips and impressive girth in many areas. His eyes are of a golden hue, two shimmering hazel orbs fixed in the thick mocha of his face and peppered with stubble growing on his chin and upper lip. There was little evidence on his face of the fights he had weathered save for the crick in his nose that told of many broken noses and the slight chunks of skin missing in several places, sunken spots on his face that are only noticeable up close, the most noticeable being a coma curving away under his left eye. His hair is cut short and is colored deep dark red, an almost blood like shade that he had chose to impose upon himself. His body mass is composed of muscle and firm bone, some of which had long ago been broken and healed over again. Luckily there had been little permanent damage to infer with him and his duties. A few Tattoos covers his body, he was several ranging in size and placement. One tat cut its way across his back, right shoulder and halfway down the arm in a fiery explosion of black vines and blue roses a symbol of his struggle to make it through a life that only leaves him black and blue all over. Another sits on his left shoulder blade, a full color image of a bear's head breaking out of a cage, to show that this is a man that cannot be caged. And across his lower back, right above his cheeks is a single flowing word "KISS" which is either an illusion to his music tastes or just another finger at the man telling him to KISS a certain body part.
Apparel: Known to wear shades (always), canvas jackets (usually dark red), sleeveless tees (usually black), jeans (usually black), black fingerless gloves and a pair of black steel-toed boots. Clothing may vary due to weather conditions or other conditions.
History
-----Richard was born unto Madeline Barnett, a bartender working in the slums of Aekea who just happened to get unlucky one of her infamous one night stands. On her meager paycheck they were able to buy food and other necessities but the luxuries of life were beyond them. In such a flimsy situation, Richard often yearned for a more glamorous lifestyle of fame and fortune. He looked up to the role models on the small television above the bar his mom worked, wishing one day to be a famous movie star athlete or another job that put him under the limelight. At age 5 he started public school, in a dingy old building with worn out equipment. Yet he was able to have a good time at school even amongst these poor surroundings. His enjoyment of school had much to do with his enjoyment of sports as gym was his favorite subject. Every time he got a chance he would be in their tight cramped gymnasium where he got to play sports with the proper, although damaged, equipment. -----Of all the sports he played there, baseball was by far the one he enjoyed the most for it was obvious to all that he had a real knack for the game. It was enjoyable pastime he continued to stay involved in even into high school, joining the junior varsity and then varsity baseball teams. He was quick on his feet, had a powerful swing and was able to endure long extra inning game. Many colleges and professional teams were scouting him out to play for them. It was in this time of extreme pressure as all eyes were on him, his studies were faltering as he found it hard to get sleep. He was just so tense, so unable to relax that his body would not let him get sleep most nights. It was at this time that Richard was introduced to his new best friend, marijuana. Ganja, as the island kids called it, enabled him to take a seat and relax. It allowed all of life’s trouble to just wash off of his seventeen year old shoulders. He took it in moderation, only when the pressure got too hard for him to handle, allowing the drug to mellow him out. He survived his senior year of high school in this manner and was drafted by the Grunnies, opting to take the road of fame in profession baseball rather than college ball. -----As with all new players, the Grunnies started Richard out in the minor leagues to see how he performed amongst the big boys before playing him in their major league team. Eager to prove his worth, Richard put his all into playing the game to the best of his abilities. And he didn’t do too badly, but neither was he amazing, he needed to perform at a higher level if he was ever to leave the minor leagues. So once again the pressure was on and he enjoyed a blunt or two here and there to calm his nerves. However things got a lot more hectic one his eighteenth birthday came around. While taking a bath on his birthday, Richard was shocked to find the pale white color of porcelain covering his entire body. Startled he fell out of the tub and cracked his head on the floor. And by cracked it is meant that the skin covering his forehead cracked in a spider-web-pattern, but he felt no pain. Granted this occurrence shouldn’t have been too startling for a citizen of Gaia but until that point, Richard did not know that he was special. He thought he was 100% human like everyone in the part of town he lived in, a part of town which renounced the Meta, freaks and aliens. But it was becoming quite clear that this was not the case. -----With much care and concentration he able to deactivate the abilities of his once dormant bloodline and celebrate his birthday in peace, or as much peace he could get with the realization that he was different. It was something he had never desired, for he had wanted fame and fortune without the troubles of being a freak among his friends. He stressed himself out to try and prevent the usage of a power he did not understand, as he shared his secret with no one. Instead he sough solitude and solace in the warm embrace of ganja, getting much deeper into the drug than he ever had before. Although marijuana allowed him to live a more mellowed out life, it also was ruined his career. When mandated drug test after mandated drug test came back positive for marijuana, a product the team could not endorse, he was let go. Without a job and without an education, Richard was now up a creek without even a boat to sit in. The sad fate of his affair only worsened his problem as he got deeper and deeper into drugs, moving on from marijuana to things like crack, cocaine and heroin. It became a downhill spiral where his messed up life made him do drugs and the same drugs messed up his life. -----In order to sustain himself and pay for his habit, Richard began to do petty crimes as well as selling drugs to others. He began to embrace his powers, as they allowed him to gain easier access pass locked door and drag the money out of any of his customers who didn’t pay up. In such a fashion he sustained his lifestyle for quite some time but was still not satisfied. He wanted to be free, he wanted to be known, and he wanted a better life. He began to look up to bikers, these unrestrained spirits doing the same kind of work he was but on a larger scale. They made a name for themselves and challenged the world. It was a lifestyle that he could look up to admire. And that admiration soon blossomed into a desire to join up with one. He saved up his drug money to buy a bike and all the leather accessories that came with it. He carved up his body with the sharp needle of an amateur tattoo artist, with the blows of numerous bar fights and with the pain of falling off your bike more times than you could count. -----Eventually when he felt that he had achieved the biker lifestyle, that he had become immersed in the culture of rebellion, drugs and death, he approached his gang of choice. He in the proper language of fists, drugs and skill requested to become a part of the gang. He even dyed his hair red in an attempt to stand out amongst the crowd of applicants. Yet he was promptly turned down. This particular gang did not like metas, the next gang did not like people of complexion, and the next gang didn’t like his hair color. He went down the list of gangs he liked, gangs which embodied the lifestyle he wanted to have but there was always something wrong with him. He just was not good enough. So Richard said to hell with all of them, he’d find a gang which liked him as much as he liked them. -----Now Richard scourges the land called Gaia, riding his bike and peddling his drugs as he searched for a good time and a good gang.
Skills
Business Man: The years that Richard has peddling drugs has lead him to become quiet proficient at the art of blackmarket dealings and the associated skills. He can identify a variety of drugs by scent, texture, taste, and sight as well as being very adept at guessing if and where another may be concealing weapons. He also has no qualms about backstabbing others and using other underhanded to obtain his objective. Rough Rider : Richard drives his bike more often than he sleeps breathes or does any other activity. Therefore he is quite adept at maneuvering his vehicle in all three dimensions. Accelerating quickly, decelerating quickly, swerving, wheelies and stoppies have all become valued skills that he puts to use in his daily life. His job is dangerous one and anything he can do to avoid getting him or his bike shot will be put to use. Physical Prowless: Richard is stronger and faster than the average man of his height and weight, because he is not an average man. He keeps up on his exercise to the best of his ability so that he is in better shape than when he was drafted into minor league baseball. So he although his strength and speed do not exceed the human potential, he does near the limit , surpassing that of normal athletes. This has to do with his racial differences, being only half human, and his time spent on gaia. Being around being that can wield powers beyond his comprehension has forced him to either toughen up or die trying. Fortunately his body was able to sustain the strain of growing stronger.
Racial Abilities
Melding - the ability to absorb the base physical properties of a solid substance (but he does not become said substance) such as rock, stone or metal through physical contact. He initiates this ability through contact with his skin and the will/concentration dedicated to starting the process. During this process he must remain in constant contact with the substance although he need not remain completely still. The process can visibly be seen as the main color and texture of the substance he is melding with flows across his body, and other items that he is in contact with (if he so chooses), emanating from the point(s) of contact (more contact increases speed) until either his whole body is enveloped or he disengages contact or he runs out of sufficient material. "Sufficient material" being the major limiting factor in this process as he cannot meld his whole body with just any amount of material. A baseball sized solid globe of material would be sufficient to cover an arm and a baseball size solid globe of material is sufficient to cover his whole body. The timeframe of this is about two posts for a full body meld, one post for an upper body meld, half a post for an arm/leg meld and everything else in between is scaled accordingly. Afterwards the substance melded with looses some of its luster as if aged but does not deplete.
A Meld – the end product of a successful melding is a complete change in the color and texture of Richard’s body and any objects he chooses to spread them to. He then gains the major attributes or properties of the solid object he has melded with, but does not become it. Thus not subject to every property of said material, as the transformation is akin to him obtaining an exoskeleton of said material he melds with. This can mean a multitude of things depending on the substance melded with. For examples, one of his most common melds is the steel meld, which can be acquired by having constant contact with any assortment of steel objects. This particular meld grants him the durability of steel and a boost in both damage potential and weight but since he does not become steel, he is still able to move his limbs with a measure of the dexterity that one normally has. Another common meld is with rubber, such as when holding a rubber ball or leaning against a car tire. This would grant him increased durability as his body would have substantially more give, and a decrease in his weight as if he was actually a rubber man. He also is able to bounce/leap to greater heights and can bounce off objects in midair while maintaining his momentum which makes this form very useful against multiple enemies.
A Meld can also be transferred to an item/person in his grasp, which will remove some of the meld from himself unless he is still in contact with the object he melded with and has sufficient material available. This is useful when protecting others from danger as he can transfer some of his steel meld to shield other from harm, by increasing the risk of being himself being harmed. The meld which extends to another person does not invade his body to any extend but simply surrounds their skin with a layer of the substance he has melded with. The person must also accept this meld, as he cannot force it on a person.
Dissipating – the ability to release a meld, which is required for a new meld to be initiated. Richard can dissipate a meld in several ways, the first of which is simply to release it and in that case his original skin tone with simply wash over his body from head to toe and replace the changes in skin color and texture. This occurs at his choosing or after 12 posts in a single meld; one post is required between dissipating and melding again. The second method is for the meld to be beaten out of him, as the meld slowly deteriorates as he it sustains attacks until it wears away to nothing. This occurs in a fashion similar to conventional armor which cracks and breaks under pressure until there is no more left to defend the body. This forceful release of a meld also comes with the backlash of a large stamina drain which can leave Richard stunned for a moment or two. And the third method is simply to knock Richard unconscious whereby the meld will automatically dissipate via the first method. Leaves him with a big headache when/if he wakes up.
Equipment
Weapons Switchblade - A small black implement used to stab people in the back. It’s a simple blade, 3.4 inches of blade and 4.4 inches of handle which opens with a flick of button. It is carried in either of his back pockets. Chain - A simple five feet length of metal divided into 3/4 inch links, useful in keeping things ties together better than any rope can. It is usually wrapped around his waist instead of a belt. Metal Bat - It’s tough, durable bat that can break bone with a good enough swing. It is a hollow bat constructed from Magnalium a compound which is a aluminium/magnesium mix which afford for greater strength, greater corrosion resistance, and lower density than pure aluminium. When it is not in hand, it is usually strapped to the side of his bike.
Armor Bootleg Kevlar Vest - A hand-me-down Kevlar vest that protects Richard from getting killed by a stray bullet or a shooter from afar. Not it the best condition but it does its job good enough to suit him. Gives him some extra cushion in other kinds of blunt impacts as well.
Misc Motorcycle - Richard rides a 2002 VRSCA V-ROD Harley Davidson, The First V-Rod was equipped the 69.0 in.³ Revolution Engine, producing a claimed 115 hp (86 kW) at the crank. The V-Rod featured 49 mm forks and a 180 mm rear tire, with solid disc wheels. The VRSCAs were all factory equipped with 3.7 gallon gas tanks. First Aid – Richard usually some gauze, ointment and other such equipment to help deal with small scrapes, cuts, burns and other injuries he may sustain. It won’t help much if someone blows his hand off though. (Stored in the removable cover of his bike’s seat) Munchables - Richard usually carries some snacks with him when he gets the munchies on the road, a common occurence when you’re in the business he’s in. He favors gummy snacks, potato chips and brownies. (Stored in his pockets as well as the removable cover of his bike’s seat) Ganja – Richard deals ganja for cash, its his main source of income for food, drink and shelter as well as his drug of choice. That's not to say that he doesn't do any other kinds of drugs but rather this is one he does the most often. (Stored in his pockets)
