This is an answer I recently found to a poem. The poem is called "When" and I wrote before I came to college.

In this dark new place I have never been
Why can I never win?
I walked the streets alone with a silent girl
Her true character will unfurl
I walked lost and abandoned
This lost, dark, place I was fated
Her senseless pride she negated
When "sorry" does not make up for what you have done
When pride and greed take their hideous form
When thinking of friends is not the norm
When she does not know when to say help instead of sorry
When you are punished by choices that are not yours
When you are forced to do these chores
When you see her true personality
When you start to hate the reality
When I was alone in a dark place I did not know, nobody came for me
