Soul Calibur: Legend of the Cursed Swords (A RP Idea)
Soul Calibur: Legend of the Cursed Swords

Transcending history, and the world,
A tale of souls and swords eternally retold.

This is the tale of two swords, Soul Edge, the cursed blade, and Soul Calibur, the holy blade. Pitted against each other across the ages, their war has seen many centuries and destroyed the lives of many people along the way. Yet, they continue to clash and not even the latest and most formidable group of warriors could stop them. Taki, Xianghua, Mina, Talim, Cassandra, Sophitia, Ivy, Mitsurugi, Kilik, Yunsung, Maxi, Yoshimitsu, Raphael, and Voldo have all failed in their mission to destroy or steal for themselves the sword known as Soul Edge. Their failure has made way for Astaroth, Cervantes, and Nightmare to fight for possession of the cursed sword known by many names. Cervantes won this titanic battle sending Astaroth back to the depths once again and freeing Nightmare, once known as Siegfried, from his own waking nightmares. Cervantes has since vanished, presumably to strengthen himself and Soul Edge in preperation for world domination. The others have gone their separate ways, laying down their own blades and each training an apprentice in their ways who will rise up to challenge the dread bearer of the Sword of Salvation. Twenty years have passed and Cervantes has finally decided to begin his reign of terror and destruction. The apprentices, now fully-trained warriors in their own right, have been dispatched separately to take on Cervantes and hopefully destroy Soul Edge. Tread carefully and choose your path wisely, young warrior, for, although your mission is to destroy Soul Edge, the emotions of greed, curiosity, and lust for power can change the heart of even the strongest man. Will you stay true to your mission or challenge Cervantes for control of the evil blade? Will you seek out the holy sword, Soul Calibur, which has been lost once again, in the hopes that it can finally destroy the Heroes' Sword or attempt the act with your own legendary weapon? Will you prevail or will your efforts end in failure like your masters' before you?

This is your tale of soul and swords...

-{Rules}-

1. This is a literate RP, which means that you must use proper English grammar, capitalization, and punctuation, refrain from using text speak, and write in the third person.
2. Being a Soul Calibur based RP, violence is expected, but there is no need to go overboard with it. We don't care if some NPC's entrails are hanging out of their gut and trailing along the ground as the grasp at you with bloodied fingers broken beyond recognition. See? Not pretty is it? Keep violence at PG-13.
3. Romance is also allowed to a certain extent. Keep it PG-13 and no cybering, PERIOD, whether in PMs or in the RP itself. Also, all couples must be male-female. This RP is set during a time when gayness just did not happen.
4. God-modding is also prohibited. Controlling someone else's character is wrong and if you are caught doing so, you will be given one notification of your actions and blacklisted before being banned from the RP.
5. Killing off someone else's character is against the rules PERIOD. If you want your character to die, kill them yourself. The only characters that can die are NPCs created as obstacles for your characters.
6. Foul language must also remain at a minimum since this RP is rated PG-13. Let's keep it clean, guys. Well, as clean as it can get at any rate.
7. If you join this RP you must remain active. Failure to post within two days after your last post will result in you getting blacklisted. If you haven't posted within three days after that you will be banned. If you will be gone for any length of time, please notify me via PM so that you don't get banned.
8. You can have anywhere between 1-3 characters as long as they are attached to a master. If we run out of masters for the characters, then there will be no more characters. I'm not looking to assign every mentioned character an apprentice, so don't worry about filling up spots. Just choose a master who has yet to be chosen and create your character.
9. Every character is going to be original except for Cervantes and they will also be apprentices who have recently completed their training.
10. Each character will receive the legendary weapon used by their master unless that weapon is Soul Calibur, then a suitable substitute will be given. They also will adopt their master's fighting style and possibly their nationality. This information will be provided for you.
11. I reserve the right to add/modify/delete these rules as I see fit throughout the course of the RP. You will be notified of any changes in the RP itself and in the Announcements.

-{Consequences for Breaking the Rules}-

Breaking any of the rules results in your name being put on the blacklist. Any further offense dictates being banned from the RP. The blacklist is a warning only. If the poor behavior continues past your first blacklist, then banning will follow shortly thereafter.

-{Weapons}-

Here is a list of the weapons apprentices receive from their masters as well as descriptions and the name of the original owner. This will be your weapon in the RP and the only one you can have throughout.

Queen's Guard
A legendary defensive weapon passed down through the royal family. Even now, royal guards protecting the Queen use swords with the same name, but the are the same in name only. This particular sword forces its wielder to fight even to the death to protect whomever he has sworn to protect. It also grants the power to accomplish this task.
Original Wielder: Raphael Sorel
Current Wielder:

Double Crescent Blade
Unusual weapons consisting of two overlapping crescent blades. They were uncovered as burial treasure in an ancient grave. The name Double Crescent Blade was given to them by a later owner; their real names are unknown. On top of their sturdy construction and sharp blade, they respond to their wielder's fighting spirit and become even heavier and sharper.
Original Wielder: Talim
Current Wielder:

Han Guang
One of the three legendary Shang dynasty treasure swords. It's blade has no physical presence, and it is said that those cut by it do not even realize that they have been hit. It boasts a surprising lightness and a long reach, but it saps the life of its wielder with every swing. It is unlikely that any human can truly handle it.
Original Wielder: Hong Yunsung
Currnet Wielder:

Valkyrie
A divine sword and shield bearing the name of maidens of war from Northern European mythology. They are said to have been left behind on earth by one of the maidens when she descended from heaven. It is said that one who wields them will will be filled with courage and that their true potential will shine forth, but mere humans cannot make full use of their real power.
Original Wielder: Cassandra Alexandra
Current Wielder:

Damascus Sword
A sword that boasts an unusual sturdiness and sharpness. The pattern on its blade, resembling the surface of water, is a characteristic of the Damascus steel. It's manufacturing process is a fiercely guarded secret. It is said that its shining blade raises spirit and inspires confidence in those who wield it.
Original Wielder: Heishiro Mitsurugi
Current Wielder:

Kris Naga
Mysterious short swords from the Malay Peninsula. A large number of these unusual weapons were magically enchanted. They unleash power in response to their wielder's will, but their strange shape makes them difficult to use. These weapons reacted most strongly to Taki's spiritual power.
Original Wielder: Taki
Current Wielder:

Guillotine
Large pendulum-style guillotines. The areas behind the blades are shaped conveniently for gripping, and they can be used as-is like a weapon, but they are heavy and require strength to handle. They are appropriate weapons for one such as Voldo whose duty is to deliver justice to intruders.
Original Wielder: Voldo
Current Wielder:

Glam
A black sword passed down over the ages, it is said to have once been used to slay a dragon. The symbols engraved on the blade apparently have some sort of mystical effect, and it boasts cutting power much greater than it appears to have. That sharpness allows it to damage opponents even if they manage to block the blow.
Original Wielder: Siegfried Schtauffen
Current Wielder:

Kaleidoscope
A legendary sword said to have existed since the world was made, and destined to continually change its form until the world ends. Many have sought it throughout history, but no one has ever reported seeing it, and currently it is thought that it may actually have been a metaphor for thunder clouds. The legend that one who grips it will be burned supports this theory as well.
Original Wielder: Ivy (Isabella Valentine)
Current Wielder:

Jingu Staff
A divine weapon, legend says that it is able to alter its length according to its wielder's will. It is said that originally ti was not a weapon, but a pillar of the Dragon god's castle. Being a divine weapon, it is difficult for a human being to use it for long periods of time.
Original Wielder: Kilik
Current Wielder:

Krita-Yuga
One of the three treasures of the Ling-Sheng Su Temple. It is said that it changes form based on its surroundings. It was lost into a void during the battle with Soul Edge years ago. According to legend, it fills its wielder with overflowing vitality.
Original Owner: Chai Xianghua
Current Owner:

Vajra
The vajra is said to be the weapon of esoteric Buddhist gods and can be seen on various Buddhist items such as statues. It is said to have the power to destroy the enemies of Buddha. It possesses great destructive power, but unleashing that power requires its wielder to literally fight with the dedication of a martyr.
Original Wielder: Maxi
Current Wielder:

Orichalcum
A weapon made from orichalcum, a mysterious metal said to have been used by the people of the lost continent of Atlantis. Atlantis vanished in the far distant past, and there is no one left in the present day who knows how to forge it. It is said to be the world's strongest metal.
Original Wielder: Sophitia Alexandra
Current Wielder:

Hraesvelgr
A legendary weapon with a smooth, wing-like blade. It is said that in the hands of one with the capacity to wield it, one swing gathers clouds; two swings brings thunderstorms; and a third swing turns the sky blue once more. It is too heavy for normal human beings to use, but its power is unfathomable.
Original Wielder: Seung Mina
Current Wielder:

Hihiirokane
A mystically sparkling sword. Hihiirokane is the name of a mysterious Japanese metal of which little is known. It is said to respond to strong emotions and lasts for thousands of years without degrading. This sword is apparently made of that metal. However, it has been quite some time since its blade was sharp...
Original Wielder: Yoshimitsu
Current Wielder:

-{Places of Interest}-

Listed below are places of interest in the Soul Calibur: Legend of the Cursed Swords universe. These places you might visit or even hail from. Maybe you just hear about them. Either way, they bear witness to the clash between Soul Edge and Soul Calibur and are steeped in the blood from their battles.

Xiwei Siege Ruins
Xiwei, positioned near the west border of the Ming Empire, was a vital stronghold for maintaining the empire's western territories. Tragically, when the Emperor believed the castle was hiding the Hero's Sword from him, he dispatched as army to seize the castle. Ultimately, the citadel was destroyed. Sadly, the army failed to find the sword in the rubble of the stronghold.

Was Soul Edge, known is this region as the Hero's Sword, really at Xiwei? Or was this place destroyed due to a misunderstanding? No one can answer these questions now.

Lakeside Coliseum
This place is a revival of the splendor that is ancient Rome. The dreams of those in power are always connected to that place, regardless of the ages.

This place exists in a lakeside cavern somewhere in Europe. This is a place where duels to the death are fought. The special privilage of witnessing the battles are only offered to a small number of the upper class. It is a place both elegant and gruesome--it is a place ruled by glory, praise, curiosity, blood, and money.

This place of duels and battles looks just like the ancient coliseums. Warriors fight here for different reasons. Some fight for glory or money, while others hope for freedom. And the affluent watch the battles from their special seats or the boats floating on the lake, enjoying the spectacle that they see as the ultimate entertainment.

Kaminoi Castle/Sakura-Dai Gate
The Kaminoi Castle, built on a desolate mountain plateau, is an impregnable fortress. The castle's sturdy walls and the beautiful cherry blossoms won high praises. But during the era of Japan's unification, the ruling government felt that an accessible location was more befitting for the capital, and thus this castle was eventually abandoned. The new era had no use for a remote fortress such as Kaminoi Castle.

Since the castle was in such remarkable condition even after it was long abandoned, rumors began to emerge about the grounds being haunted by ghosts. People have stayed far clear of the castle ever since.

Village of the Wind
During a time when Western culture spread its way across Southeast Asia, and isolated village hangs on to its cherished faith in the Wind Deity.

The village is situated in a location that commands a view of both the mountains and the sea. The sight of many windmills lining the hamlet never cease to amaze and remind them of the profound importance the villagers place on the winds.

The winds that circle the Earth answer to these villagers and push their windmills along the way. At the very least, that is their belief.

Eurydice Shrine Gallery
This shrine is built high up a snow-covered mountain that is as beautiful as it is harsh. The scale of this temple is such that it is easy to believe that Olympian gods once dwelled in this place.

Legends say Hephaestus, the god of fire and forge, built the main shrine on top of the summit. This is evidenced by the stairway that leads up to the shrine--the enormous steps are impossible for mortals to climb. Humans built this gallery around the giant stairway for their priests' use.

In one corner of this meticulously built gallery is the place where a blacksmith couple gave an offering of a sword and a shield to Hephaestus.

The arms have disappeared from the alter, however... Who could have taken them?

Imperial Capital Ayutthaya
The Ayutthaya dynasty witnessed the height of prosperity of the Indonesian Peninsula. This imperial villa is one of the meany used by the dynasty to entertain honored guests.

The beautiful white walls of the villa and the abundant nature that can be seen across the river from the garden make visitors feel as though time is standing still.

Talim came to this place soon after the start of her journey. Yunsung passed through this place on his to India only a few days before she arrived. Ayutthaya is the place Talim first came to learn that there were others searching for the evil sword.

South France Mansion/Library
The master of this domicile is no longer alive. The rich lord that lived here was poisoned, and the man who lived here since left this place recently.

Other than the wing where the servants and the child the man brought reside, this mansion is in desolate silence. It is said that the man did not come out of this library until the day he left on his journey. Surprisingly, there are no traces on the bookshelves or anywhere else in the room that give a clue to what the man was doing in this place.

The silent mansion awaits the return of its master... Or the visitor.

Labyrinth
Just like the legends surrounding the island of Crete in the Mediterranean Sea, many myths and folklores around the world refer to structures called labyrinths.

Most places people refer to as labyrinths, however, are nothing more than intricate palaces. This ruin is the exception. With complex corridors and chambers that run through numerous levels underground, this ruin defines the word "labyrinth".

No one knows when the labyrinth was created or its purpose. The only thing that is known about this recently reawakened ruin is that it is the only structure in this area--there are no cities nor temples anywhere nearby.

Pirates' Alcove
Few know of the hidden dock inside a naturally formed cave lying in the westerly seas, for nary a soul dare to venture close to the wave-beaten precipice that houses it.

This place was once the stronghold of a renowned pirate and his hardy crew. But there is no one here anymore, for the captain murdered all of his subordinates.

Years have passed since anyone has stepped foot in this cavern, but the place is still lit, and a pirate ship can also be seen. Is this the projection os the memories of the slain pirates?... Or, is this the memories of the captain, who has since disappeared?

Money Pit/Top Tier
This deep chasm is both the storehouse and the tomb of the Italian merchant of death, Vercci. This place, built on a nameless island in the Mediterranean Sea, is renowned to grave robbers as the Money Pit. Countless booby-traps--including a water trap based on the tides--line the pit, but the most feared deterrent is the enigmatic guardian that awaits within. None who have sought the treasures have ever returned.

This platform is the top level of the Money Pit, located near the entrance opening. But grave robbers must be wary, for one missed step means certain death down the chasm. The may get to the treasure at the bottom, but it is meaningless if they are dead.

Egyptian Ruins
This is an old, little-known underground ruin. But someone has ripped open the seal to the entrance, and we can now view the interior that only a few mortals have seen.

The drawings on the wall record the events surrounding Soul Edge. The wall depicts the story of events surrounding the evil sword's existence in Egypt many millennia ago.

Who opened the seal and intruded upon this place, and what was his purpose? Everything is a mystery, save for one fact--this incident has to do with the demonic sword, Soul Edge.

Ostrheinsburg Chapel
The broken wall of the chapel reveals a somber scene of the castle ruin looming in the distance. This ruin is what remains of Ostrheinsburg Castle that bore witness to the clash between Soul Edge and Soul Calibur many years previous.

This chapel was the epicenter of the events surrounding Nightmare that transpired a few years before then. No one has dared to visit this chapel ever since, but, mysteriously, some say that the chapel bell can be hears once in a while. Rumors say the bell rings itself in honor of the chosen warriors.

Egyptian Crypt
This crypt lies underneath the old ruins that house the murals surrounding Soul Edge. The ruins have many mysteries, such as the Pharaoh's tomb, shrine of worship, and a seal to lock away some evil being, but the true goals of these structures remain unknown.

One thing is certain, however--the entire structure, including the shrine at the entrance, was created using the very best technology available to ancient Egypt. It is clear that these ruins were of vital importance.

Future generations have named this place "crypt" out of convenience, but this structure has numerous features that warrant such a name.

Palgaea Shrine/Lowest Level
The Palgaea Shrine is the headquarters of the sinister cult that birthed Astaroth. As a result of the over thousand-year-old practice of building a new temple on top of the old, the lowest level was forgotten about until the entrance was rediscovered coincidentally a few years ago.

The statue found in the lowest level was that of a long-forgotten god of rebirth.

The cult is studying the lowest level in order to decrypt its secrets to gain the power of rebirth.

Hwangseo Palace/Pheonix Court
This imperial villa is located in the outskirts of the capital of Lee Dynasty Korea, Hanyang. The Phoenix Court of Hwangseo Palace is renowned for its impressive decorations. The platform is often used for matches in the imperial presence. Therefore, this place is the dream and goal for those who study martial arts.

Many years previous, Hwang Sung Kyung, the leader of Lee Shun Shin's coast guard, was given the order to search for Soul Edge. He was likely chosen for this quest due to his performance on this very platform, where many a naval officer and even the Choson King Sonjo watched Hwang's matches.

During the Japanese invasion, all the warriors who proved their skill in this place fought valiantly to stop the onslaught, and were feared by the Japanese army.

Okay... I don't know if you left out people on purpose... most likely did. Probably only picked people that would be likely to train someone, but I am protesting a severe lack of Tira.

commentCommented on: Fri Jan 16, 2009 @ 06:11pm
I didn't put Tira in because, 1)I don't know who they are and 2)I'm basing this solely off of Soul Calibur II since that is the only Soul Calibur game I have currently completed and so it is the one I know the most about. I'll look at the link you gave me, but I don't think Tira will be added. We'll see. It would depend on how many people, if any, showed interest in making this RP.
