"There are dark secrets right beneath your feet. You're just not looking hard enough."
The door opened slower than it really should of. Vladimir hit it, and grumbled, "Stupid thing's getting old. We really need a new one." He held the door open for the four teens as they stood cluelessly on the grey carpeting, and looked around.
Like the bottom floor, there were only a few walls, and the rest were windows. But the walls were painted a deep maroon red, and the silver elevator stood out against it. There was another desk, and there Emily was, typing away. Except she was wearing different clothes, and her hair was set up differently. The girl looked up, and said in monotone, "Van Duuke."
Vladimir did the same gesture with the other Emily. "Good afternoon, Emily!" Ashley and the others gave Vladimir a weird look. Chuckling, Vladimir said, "Children, this is Emily, and she's the same person you saw on the main floor-"
The said girl scoffed, and said, "Doubt it. And it's Emma, you old coot. Get it right for once, will ya?"
The man laughed whole-heartedl, and said, "Ah, I forgot again. Forgive me, Emma. You and Emily really need to tell me these things at meetings, or else I'll never remember!"
"You know Emily doesn't care. She freaking idolizes you," Emma rolled her eyes, "Besides, Emi says you call her Emma! Seriously, do I look like a bookworm to you?" She faced Ashley, and pointed to her face. It was like looking at Emily, but with out the perky disposition.
Ashley paused, then said, "No, you don't."
Emma threw her hands in the air, completely stopping her work proccess. "See? Even the kid says I don't look like a bookworm! So stop calling Emi, Emma, me, Emily, Em, Emi, Elli, Em, Lee-Lee, Elli, and only remembering Emily as Emily! Sheesh!"
The four teens stared in disbelief.
"What the hell?" Rafael asked.
Kylee hesitated, and asked herself, "Is it possible to have six of yourself...?"
Michelle and Ashley looked at the, once again, laughing Vladimir. "Oh, ho, ho, ho! Ah, Emma, I get so confused with all of you, I only remember Emily as Emily because she never moves from her post! Unlike you and the others, who have to move around with your stations."
"Haha, tell that to Lee-Lee. She was bawling her eyes out because you called her Elli."
Vladimir frowned. "What's so bad about Elli?"
"Only you wouldn't know. Elli's a slu- klutz! Everyone in this freaking building knows that," Emma cried, tried, and frustrated. "You know what? I give up."
"Emma-" blue eyes hardened a bit, but Emma wasn't looking.
"Don't talk to me, I'm working." The sound of keys being hit sounded.
Sighing, the old man turned to see four VERY confused teens. He let out a small chuckle, and he explained: "Emily is the holder of the Orb of Division. She's actually just one person, but her job as secretary for just about every section led her to divide herself six times." He moved a hand towards Emma. "This one's Emma. The one on the main floor is Emily, the original."
"Original, my a$$."
"Language, my dear," Vladimir scolded.
Emma rolled her eyes again. She looked at the four kids, and said, "Emily is not the original, don't listen to him. Emily is just the original name, and the main floor was the original post for the original. When Emily was divided, her personalities were also divided. I'm bada$$, nice to meet ya."
The teens nodded in understanding.
Suddenly, a voice echoed from the speaker apparently on Emma's desk. "Emma, are my guests here yet?"
Emma leaned in a bit, and a button was pushed. "Yes, Mrs. Schooss. They are here."
"Let them in, please."
Emma responded with a, "Right away, Mrs. Schooss." Standing, Emma opened a door to her right, and said, "Mrs. Schooss will see you now."
Vladimir's face became serious, and gave Emma a, "thank you," before walking behind the kids. "Let's go now."
And he began running like a mad man before the door closed with a deafening, 'slam.'
Ashley looked behind her in fear. It felt like someone had just cut their ties to the world, and closed the door of fate on them. Light brown eyes faced the woman in front of them.
"Welcome, children."
