Once a time, there lived a peacock with feathers as beautiful a rainbow itself. He loved to spread his gorgeous tail while mocking any animal that passed. He would taunt them about how bland they were with color and hues that couldn’t compare to him. One the peacock met a crane while drinking at the pool, the peacock laughed at the pale colors of its plumage. “I am dressed in the gold’s and purples of royalty” said the peacock laughing. “And all the colors of the rainbow while you have not a bit of color on your wings.”
The crane ignored the peacock. Frustrated with such insolence the peacock began to parade itself. It immediately caught the attention of all the animals at the pool except for the crane. Still ignoring the peacock the crane flew away. Enraged even further the crane began yelling how gorgeous it was and how the crane could never reach such beauty. The crane just continued to soar into the heaven until it was a speck in the distanced.
Unknowingly the peacock had yelled so loud that it caught the interest of group of traveling thieves. They saw the peacock and were in amazement. “What lush feathers” one thief said.
“Yes” said the others.
“Just imagine how much they would be worth.”
“But how will we get them.” said another thief. The first thief looked at the peacock and had began to hatch a plan. “With flattery.” He said.
The next day the peacock made it way to the pool as it did always. When it saw a man. “Oh my,” said the man. “What beautiful feathers you have. They are as beautiful as a field of spring flower in fresh bloom. May I take a closer look?”
Flattered by the man’s comments the peacock allowed it. “Oh, such finery” said the man.
“Each feather glitters like gold. May I touch one? ”
The peacock blushed and said yes. “Just as I thought it’s as soft as silk.”
The peacock began to giggle and swoon, all the while completely oblivious to more men sneaking up behind him. By the time the peacock was aware of them, it was too late and he was stuffed into a bag.
Later that day the peacock was back at the pool but instead of having lush feathers covering its body it was completely nude from beak to rump.
Without modesty we’d all be nude.
