This is a little story I feel like writing due to the weather. Titled after the song 'Here We Go Again' by Paramore. Didn't edit it much cos I can't be bothered, plus I be editing as I go.

You know the sweet smell of the rain? That smell you get as soon as it starts raining, the very same one that lingers after it rains? It was one of those days when the rain just kept falling, the overcast sky unforgiving as it held in the torrents of rain, waiting for the right moment to storm. It is on this day where our story begins.

She sat cross legged on her large bed, reading as the wall-span window that was the fourth wall of her room let in the dim light of the clouded sky, the invisible barrier that stopped the rain from entering her room. From the window you could see the whole cityscape - it was brilliant at night, with all the bright lights of the city in the distant backdrop. From where she sat she looked up and watched as the rain fell, her favourite bittersweet songs playing through her earphones. Grant my last request and just let me hold you, don't shrug your shoulders, lay down beside me...

Just like that she remembered the reason she still believed. Him. The warmest chocolate brown eyes. His perfect, tangle of copper brown hair. Just the way he used to smile. Promise me something. No matter what happens, keep smiling okay? Swear you mean it Dan. 'I swear Rye,' she found herself saying, her voice somewhat hollow against vastly empty room. She caught her shadowed reflection in the glass pane, she'd changed in the last year; having finally gotten that blue put through her jet black hair to make her bright azure eyes that much more dazzling.

Her phone rang. Once. Twice. Three times.

'Hello?' she answered before the fourth ring.
'Hey Dan,' a familiar voice said on the other side, 'I miss you, what's it like there?'
'Hey Rye,' she smiled, 'it's raining.'
He laughed, 'sounds like you're here. It's been raining non stop, hey at least the surf must be good eh?'
'I wouldn't know,' she replied him, a small sigh escaping, 'haven't been down in the surf in months.'
'Dan, I thought-'
'You thought wrong on that one Rye,' she said, her voice becoming quiet, 'you thought wrong on so many things.'
With that she hung up. He knew what she meant. He's even sworn to her.
What happened to you Rye?

He ran up to her and hugged her after the final whistle. They'd just won the regional final in the under 20's women's football league. She was mud smeared but he couldn't care less.
'You did it!'' he grinned, planting a kiss on her cheek.
'Yeah we did,' she laughed, 'thanks for the support.'
'You know I love you right?' he said still grinning.
'Yeah,' she nodded, she knew that much, 'yeah I know.'

He loved her, but she still loved him more. It's strange but true, she knew this yet she was still hopeful he would remember the things he said less than two years ago.
'I'll always be yours, always and forever. Don't forget that, okay Danni?'
He only ever used Danni when he was extremely serious, it was odd, but she wouldn't have it any other way. She was still young, but it didn't lessen the fact that the one she loved, truly, was on the other side of the world - possibly with someone else who caught his fancy.

She had had enough. Grabbing her suitcase she packed, she wasn't quite sure where she was going but by now her song had changed and she was now listening to Here We Go Again. And the tears slipped silently down her face, as if she were at the point of realisation.
'Forget, the things we swore we meant,' she whispered, looking at her favourite photograph of her Ryan and herself, the one she loved not the one who couldn't remember his own promises, 'I'll write you just to let you know...'
With that she shut her suitcase and headed out the door. The rain started to fall.
