Misty stared at the obviously mental boy across from her. "Al-righty then," she said, patting him on the shoulder, "uh-huh, I'll just be on my way, up there, you know, trying to wake up the driver before he kills us all...." As she turned her back to go, the boy grabbed her arm, " Not so fast, You dont believe me? Fine, I'll just have to show you." He let go as Misty faced him, crossing her arms and pouting, " Look, we dont have time for games, the bus will---" she trailed off, noticing a black-grey fog swirling up from where the boy stood. She looked at his eyes, his cold, dark eyes, which were now locked with hers, and she was unable to move.
"hazy..." Misty thought, " Everything is getting hazy..." the bus was no longer there, only her and the boy. Misty still coudn't unlock her eyes from his, but she did see bright lights swirling from around him,and it was like she was in a movie.....or a play, with the bakdrop changing into flashing colors, too fast for someone to see, but just enough to see it going from red to grey to black to green to red again. Finally, mercifully, it stopped, and Misty tore her eyes away from the boys. She looked around, "Um...where'd the bus go?" she asked as she saw a deep, blue, glittering ocean......a hundred or see feet below her. " And uh...." she continued, ' Where's the ground?" They were standing on nothing....just...air. The boy walked around her, ( or kind of floated,) and touched her cheek ," We're over the Atlantic Ocean." Misty shriveled against his touch, she rubbed her eyes, " This isnt a dream...." she tried to turn around, but she found she coudn't, " Who are you?" The boy laughed, eveil and maniacal, " Some call me The Dark Spirit, some say I'm Lucifer's right hand, but I'm Death, neither evil nor good. You're a special case that I found i could have some fun with..." Misty glared at him as he circled her, " What do you mean, 'have some fun with,'" Death stopped inches from her face, a gleeful, almost childish look in his eyes, " I'm going to give you a challenge..one that will test you far from your worthless human life.." he made a hand gesture as if the word, 'human,' were something of a pesky, irritating fly. Misty narrowed her eyes at him ," Well, for one who doesnt like humans so much, you sure dress yourself like one." Death gestured at himself, " you mean this body? This is what i actually looked like, before i grew immortal, and harvested the spirits of all. You see, this challenge will not only help you in your life, but the next....I was like you, going to die a worthless death, but then the one before me gave me a chance, said i was worthy enough, an i beat his challenge. For a reward, i was offered immortal life, but with one cost," he started to cirle her again, " I have to become Death, and wait for my successor to come and let me rest in peace, and that would be you, if you pass the challenge." Misty smiled, nervously, ' That's, uh...sweet, and all, but what happens if i refuse?" Death made another gesture, ' Then you will die, you will be stuck in limbo forever." Misty grimaced, " Wow, not giving me much of a choice here, huh?"
